Have i gone blind? Afaict, the current version of #GlitchSoc used in #InfosecSpace , no longer lets us specify a character-number beyond which toots will automatically fold / collapse. I regarded that as a major reason for even bothering to favour a glitch.social instance [along with, ofc, its support of Markdown formatting].

Maybe this is not even a recent change / degradation? Over recent months i've been repeatedly hopping between the native Masto web page, & #Statuzer, #Phanpy, & #Sengi, so possibly the change happened "unsighted" by me, months ago?

This is pretty disappointing, not least given the several months-old bug that broke correct behaviour of Unread notifications badge: Display a badge for unread notifications in the column icons when the notifications column isn't open in the #AdvancedWebInterface remains unfixed.

Can anyone corroborate this? At least on mindly.social in the advanced web view over the last week or so, when I click a Translate link for a post, I get "503 Remote data could not be fetched" instead of translated text. It had been working for me prior. This is on Safari on a Mac on the latest beta.

@helpers One of the distinct disadvantages, afaict, with the #Friendica web UI [ie, using a browser] compared to Mastodon, is the inability to see / access / use the Compose Post box unless one is scrolled to the top of the timeline. In Masto, with both its default & #AdvancedWebInterface UI views, the Compose box is always visible, hence available, regardless of any other timeline status. Tbh i find this restriction really frustrating in F.

For various reasons in F i prefer the Vier UI display option over Frio, but afaict my objection pertains to both.

Is there possibly some option buried in Settings that i might have missed, which when enabled makes the Compose Post box available any time, eg, from a top bar link as a popup modal?

Is there some AddOn for this that Friendica server owners could install that remedies this problem?

In absence of anything better, my inefficient workaround is to open a second tab of my F account, in which i then access the box to compose & send my impromptu post, without disturbing my position in my scrolled timeline in the original tab [eg, first thing each morning i scroll down & review all new posts since yesterday, but often think of something i want to say or ask that's not tied to any individual post i might be contemporaneously reading atm, six hours down my timeline].

Why is the #AdvancedWebInterface for #Mastodon not working in #Firefox? Any ideas @paula ?

Boy, this latest update to Mastodon is great! I use the Advanced Web Interface in my browser, and until now images did not display in the Notifications feed, just a link to the image. Thus I was constantly clicking to see the images (and also often just skipping them).

Now images are displayed in the Notifications column, and it's wonderful. I was missing a lot.

Anyone else having this problem with the #AdvancedWebInterface on pc?
It was working fine until recently. Now whenever I open mastodon on desktop or laptop it defaults to single column. Clicking into settings and back out again reverts to the advanced interface.
Both PCs use firefox on Linux Mint.

Do you use the one-column or multi-column (advanced) web interface on Mastodon?

Any "Advanced Web Interface" Mastodon users out there with a lot of pinned columns? I got frustrated that clicking things in the left drawer changed the right-most column. The following line of CSS (which I added via Stylebot) keeps the drawer column last, which feels much more natural as the UI automatically scrolls to the right when content is loaded in that unpinnable, dynamic, right column.

For those new to #Mastodon, just a few items to help your switch be more productive:

-1: Mastodon is #opensource, and there are quite a few mobile applications. Check out some others!

-2: On a desktop computer, you probably want to use the web iteration of Mastodon. Definitely go to your account settings and choose to use #advancedwebinterface instead. Vastly better experience.

#Mastodon #UX/#UI holiday wishlist:

1. When using #advancedwebinterface, allow posts to be expanded (and replied to) in-column when clicked, rather than appearing in the column at the verrrrrrrry end.

2. Or, at least, when using advanced web interface, allow "Getting started" column to be moveable

I found out what annoys me in the #advancedwebinterface. It's that it's aligned left, instead of being centered.
