Every week I sit down to budget, and it starts by opening Safari with two windows I set up.
It finally clicked that I should automate this, so, here it is! A combination of AppleScript + Shortcuts and it's now one click in my Dock.
I show the AppleScript on the left so you can see it all. It checks for Safari running because launching Safari gets you a window automatically. Second picture is the result. (Two YNAB tabs because I have $ and € budgets.)

I struggle to understand #devs who don’t use #keyboard #shortcuts for even the simplest stuff like cut and paste.
How do you work by highlighting the word with the mouse (not even double clicking it) then going to the top menu, clicking edit, wander up and down the menu looking for copy, then doing the same to paste!

I’m trying to do a REGEX replace, to replace decimal commas in a CSV with periods. I have this REGEX in the replace action:
(?<=[0-9]+),(?=[0-9]+)
I have set the action to be case insensitive

In VSCode, it correctly finds the occurrences, but the Shortcut action doesn’t do anything

it allows running Python scripts as well as native binaries of ffmpeg and ImageMagick. and if you need a proper shell there's dash 
The #ShortcutsApp in macOS can run shell scripts. In iOS #shortcuts we have a-Shell and a-Shell mini 
And they're open source, free, have no tracking, and updated constantly

Is there a way to send a bit of data somewhere from an iPhone in a way that a Linux PC would pick up once it's booted and do *something* with it (preferably in a form of a Python/Ruby script)?
I tried using iOS's #Shortcuts to write to a Dropbox file, and it's doable but tedious to work on and debug.

#BarCuts is a #macOS menu bar app that displays #Shortcuts workflows. It allows you to "tag" workflows to an app. When that app is active and in front, BarCuts will show its tagged workflows in a menu. It's pretty nice!

I just found a method to avoid having to be pestered by the banner when a #shortcut is running from control center or Home Screen. It involves using the url scheme to run the shortcut you want and then opening the app you were in when initiating it (or you could have it return to Home Screen). This causes the shortcut to run from inside the #shortcuts app instead of showing the banner.
Is adding tags to reminders via #Shortcuts actions new in iOS18.4 beta 2?

I’m investigating setting up iOS #Shortcuts to automatically send a text to someone each month with a reminder (they requested). Does setting up this sort of thing have the ability for #variables? As in, can the message body of the text include something like the current month?
New #beta version of #BarCuts is out! If you have a lot of #Shortcuts workflows on #macOS 14+, and are looking for a way to show only a subset of them in a menu, dependent on the currently active app, you're the target demographic for my new app
