"For this episode, I talked to War’s bandleader Lonnie Jordan, and their producer Jerry Goldstein. The two of them told me how “Low Rider” was made in the studio, through a combination of improvisation and meticulous editing."

"The first episode of Song Exploder, about The Postal Service song “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight,” came out 10 years ago, in January 2014. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the podcast, we’re doing what bands do, and putting out a deluxe, expanded edition of our very first release: this version features a new interview, new insights, and new pieces of the song and demo."

I listen to a fair amount of podcasts. One of my long term favorites is #SongExploder with Hrishikesh Hirway. Partly because his interviews are filled with interesting details about how a song was made, and you get to know the artist. Occasionally an episode comes by that is extra special. The one with #Raye and her song #Escapism is one of those. I now have a brand new artist to discover. Actually, I’ve got to check #070Shake as well. Listen to Song Exploder. Donate to #Radiotopia if you can.
TIL: Nick Thorburn wrote the theme for #Serial. Siddhartha Khosla wrote the theme for #OnlyMurdersInTheBuilding. When #Khosla was on #SongExploder, he never mentioned the SERIAL theme. When OMITB premiered, Nick Thorburn complained on Social Media, but no one ever wrote about it.
I also just listened to the #SongExploder about #BlueMonday, and it is one of the best episodes. It is wonderful hearing all the little parts of the song come together. My favorite part is now none of the three remaining band members who formed #NewOrder wanted to take over as singer, and they just chose Bernard because his disinterested attitude towards the whole thing sounded interesting. https://songexploder.net/new-order

Today, my spouse & I enjoyed an episode of the fascinating #music analysis #podcast #SongExploder dissecting the opening credits tune for the show "Only Murders In The Building". Host Hrishikesh Hirway talks to composer Siddhartha Khosla.
"Using the isolated, individual tracks from a recording, Hrishikesh asks artists to delve into the specific decisions that went into creating their work. Hrishikesh edits the interviews, removing his side of the conversation..."

Song Exploder Episode 252: New Order - Blue Monday
"New Order is one of the most influential bands of the last four decades. Their song “Blue Monday" came out in 1983, and it holds the record for being the best-selling 12-inch single of all time. [...] To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of “Blue Monday,” in this episode, New Order discusses how they created the song."
@benlikestocode #SongExploder just covered that one recently!
Seal wrote his 1994 hit song "Kiss from a Rose" in the late 80s while living in a squat with no money, not knowing how to play any instruments, and with no experience recording in a studio.
