I created a Mastodon "how to" page on our family Wordpress site: https://txcolliers.net/wordpress/mastodon-feed/ It's targeted toward our family and friends who may or may not have heard of Mastodon, but don't have any idea of how to get started. (And it was an opportunity to learn how to embed a feed in a Wordpress page!)
Every day is a great day to get started with OpenProject, rainy, sunny, or anywhere you happen to be. One can argue when the best day would be. But today is a special day, because we have a new video to help you get started quickly with your team.

Hey #InfoSec folks! I got asked the perennial "are there any trainings that will help me get started in infosec?" and I have some answers. Any others I should add to my default answer?
Security+: https://www.comptia.org/en-us/certifications/security/
Google also has a foundational training: https://grow.google/certificates/cybersecurity/
There are a bunch of low cost or free trainings from these folks: https://www.antisyphontraining.com/
NIST's list: https://www.nist.gov/itl/applied-cybersecurity/nice/resources/online-learning-content
Any tips for a center-left German into politics, tech, photography & music on how to get started here and find their crowd? #mastodon #gettingstarted #help

#GettingStarted with #GameDev:
Make some minigames: Make the reload bar from Gears of War, a 1D version of pong, golf swing meter, the attack timing from Ikenfell, etc. These are really simple small mechanics that still have an element of fun: the minimal game.
Get a blue circle on screen. Make it move toward a green circle and press a button to stop it when they overlap. Score the player on timing.
It's not necessarily easy, but it's minimal enough that you can succeed and gain confidence.
The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.

"A quick start guide offers concise step-by-step instructions to help users quickly get started with a product, service, or tool. In the context of API documentation, a quick start guide covers the minimal steps required for developers to make their first API call successfully. It typically provides steps such as how to create an account, where to locate API keys or credentials, how to authenticate, example code to make a basic API call, a way to display the response, and troubleshooting tips. The goal is to deliver a quick win to developers and provide a foundation to integrate with your API."

Getting lots of really good suggestions and approaches for how to steer someone who is interested in getting licensed when it comes to gear.
It feels like there is a flow chart coming. That first fork in the road: HF or Nah? is pretty defining for the gear, license requirements, etc.
Lots of food for thought.
Keep 'em coming!
Was talking with a friend who is interested in getting licensed. I was asked what radio they should look at.
Oof. Talk a bout a messy matrix of features and money. I'm trying to conjure an answer but if anyone out there knows of an article or blog post that is particularly instructive, I'd love to see it!
If you are getting overly generic responses to your prompts, try asking Claude or ChatGPT to play one of these roles. Simply include this text at the start of your prompt, describing the topic you want to discuss:
Once you get a feel for role-definition, you can start to customise these for your own purposes. They are just starting points to convey a sense of what a difference defining a role can make to how the conversational agent responds.
