@GhostOnTheHalfShell Gladly I do #WorkFromHome >99% of the time so I'm not required to #commute and there's good, affordable #PublicTransport in #Germany (at least in the urban area I live in)...
Funding cuts got my job last week. It's important to stay busy, keep those skills sharp... #3dprinting #animation #stopmotion #lipsync #dolls #workfromhome #job #fired #jobcut #wfh #nap
Politics aside, new research shows there are good financial reasons to back working from home

Fiverr is the only Israeli company I'm heavily relied on. They exploits the freelancers. Any tips for earning without depending on such platform? How should I get started?
If you are wondering why you are not able to find remote work. The space is spammed full with AI, remote workers from Asia like India, and scammers that try to extract as much money as possible.

I've been on a bit of a sabbatical from my normal work since moving house six months ago. Lots to address here, especially given it's an older structure.
But today I need to deal with an electronics issue – a too-loud alarm-system keypad – and it's nice to see the soldering iron again. Finding all the tools and bits is somewhat challenging but I'm finding boxes and getting there.
Crazy Day Coming
Last night Jen and I stayed at the hotel that is hosting her company’s function. I got up at 5:30, took a shower, and drove home. It’s a little wacky, but I am working from home on a day when we aren’t actually home. Does that make sense? No? So what, it’s how it is. Heh.

Tomorrow I will work in the office, so I’ll be driving there from the hotel instead of from home. That’s going to be weird too. I was thinking that I would bring my camera with me and wander around the city after work tonight, but if I am going straight to work in the morning I will have my work laptop with me… so I think I will be going to the hotel after work, and it will be late enough that the sun will be down by the time I get there and put my stuff away. So maybe I won’t be wandering around the city after all. Maybe I’ll just stay in the room and watch Daredevil while I wait for Jen to come back from her post-work, work-events.
We’ll see. I did tell Jen that if I happen on a music store in my wandering and said music store had a Gibson guitar for sale for under $1,000, then I am totally buying it. I should see if I can make that promise come true. Heh heh.
Anyway, time to get ready for work. There is a contractor coming this afternoon as well as a delivery that I have to open the door for. All of that on top of having a crazy busy schedule. It’s going to be a weird one today. Big time.
Is there anybody who has one of those walking pads while working from home? I'm considering it since I hate standing still at my standing desk, but I'm not sure if walking + working is a good combination.
Would love to hear your experience!
Five years ago today, I went to work like any other day. I arrived at the office at 8:30 AM. I got back home at 7pm.
If I slept for eight hours that day, that means I spent five and a half hours of my day for my own time (mostly family time).
Today, I sat down at my desk at 8am. I'll go downstairs for dinner at 5pm. Between those two times, I'll spend an hour having lunch with my wife and daughter, and a few five minute breaks here and there where I can chat with my wife, help around the house, and whatnot.
But, I'll also more work than I would have in the office (fewer people dropping by my desk), and I'll still spend some time collaborating with my colleagues (more effectively over Zoom, each at our own computers, than crowded around one person's).
This is why I work from home, and won't ever go back to an office.
"Pendelzwang" - From the #German for enforced commuting.
"I thought you worked from Home?"
"I did, but then management brought in the Pendelzwang, and now I have to sit in traffic for three hours a day, burning dead dinosaurs, so I can join a Zoom meeting 'more effectively'."

The generational shift in workplace expectations is also notable. Millennials and younger professionals prioritize productivity over presenteeism, valuing results rather than time spent at a desk.

As these individuals ascend into leadership roles, traditional metrics of success—like physical office attendance—are likely to become obsolete.

Shareholders may soon recognize that clinging to outdated practices risks alienating a workforce that has proven remote work can be both efficient and profitable.

Employees rarely interact directly with senior leadership in casual office settings, undermining the argument that in-person presence drives meaningful cultural engagement.

Additionally, corporate investments in office infrastructure require justification, as empty buildings represent wasted resources.
