Wie wir mit der Initiative #SaveSocial das Internet retten wollen

Wir setzen uns seit Jahren für ein freies, offenes und demokratisches Internet ein. Gerade weil wir so viel in sozialen Medien unterwegs sind und arbeiten. Deshalb haben wir uns ohne zu zögern der Initiative #SaveSocial angeschlossen. Sascha und Johannes gehören zu den 100 Erstunterzeichnenden. Zusammen mit Prominenten wie Marc-Uwe Kling, Jan Delay, Eckart von Hirschhausen und vielen anderen fordern wir: Soziale Netzwerke müssen als demokratische Kraft gestärkt werden, und der Einfluss der großen Tech-Monopole wie Meta, TikTok und X muss begrenzt werden.

Warum ist uns das so wichtig? Weil wir gerade dabei sind, die Redefreiheit im Internet zu verlieren – und damit auch ein Stück unserer Demokratie. Die Macht der großen Plattformen, die mit intransparenten Algorithmen unsere Debatten lenken und unabhängige Medien an den Rand drängen, ist längst zu groß geworden. Werbung, Hass und Desinformation dominieren, während Qualitätsjournalismus und freie Meinungsäußerung es immer schwerer haben. Die Würde des Menschen und mit ihr die Demokratie wird von vielen Seiten angegriffen, um weiter Geld und Macht bei wenigen anzuhäufen. Das Spiel wollen wir nicht weiter mitspielen.

Sascha hat mit den anderen Erstzeichnenden der Initiative #SaveSocial aktiv am Manifest mitgeschrieben und gemeinsam mit Björn Staschen, dem Initiator der Initiative, zehn klare Forderungen erarbeitet. Es geht darum, die Spielregeln im Netz zu ändern: Transparenz bei Algorithmen, faire Bedingungen für unabhängige Medien und mehr Kontrolle über unsere eigenen Daten. Nur so können wir verhindern, dass die großen Plattformen weiterhin ungehindert ihre Macht ausbauen.

Deshalb unsere Bitte an euch: Unterschreibt die Petition! Über 225.000 Menschen haben bis jetzt mitgezeichnet, und jede Stimme zählt. Gemeinsam können wir das Internet zurückerobern – für mehr Demokratie, mehr Transparenz und mehr Freiheit.

That's what matters.

People remember people who get things done. People who get things done are the ones who succeed with the future and trends.

Here's what I know about initiative and moving forward -talk is cheap. Really cheap. I've watched countless organizations and individuals tell me about all the amazing things they're going to do - and then watched most of them do, literally, absolutely nothing after the fact. They've booked me for a keynote on innovation, but they don't innovate. They ask for hard-hitting insight on disruptive trends and then watch as others disrupt their business. They seek insight on how to accelerate their creativity but fall right back into their old mindsets.

What happens in these situations? A lack of commitment, but more importantly, a lack of initiative.

That's why I have often said that motivational insight is, for some, a bit like Chinese food. It's great at the moment, but you're hungry 20 minutes later.

Here's what it all comes down to: success isn't about having the best ideas - it's about having the courage and capability to act on them. Organizations that align themselves with the speed of change, that foster a culture of action over discussion, and that understand the importance of immediate implementation are the ones that consistently succeed in shaping their future rather than being shaped by it.

Remember: in today's rapidly evolving world, the gap between opportunity and obsolescence isn't determined by what you know - it's determined by what you do with what you know.

Think about that.

Stop talking about what you're going to do.

Start doing it.

Because that's what people remember.

Action matters.
