I assume the section 8 waitlist for the Boston area is closed because it’s too long, but if you can find one in Massachusetts that’s open you don’t actually have to live in Massachusetts to apply for section 8 in Massachusetts. Or at least you didn’t have to a decade ago.

But look at these income limits. Back when I had a career my mom used to tell me I should get on the section 8 waitlist just in case and I would scoff at her and tell her that I never qualify for anything, I’m pretty sure I would have qualified even when I had my career and when I became disabled I regretted not taking her advice because it was a really long wait.

Two residents have sued to stop the $500 UBI in St. Louis.

This YouTube creator is talking about how the Director of HUD went to a UBI conference recently, and now they want to just give people the money instead of doing the section 8 subsidy for people who have section 8 so that we can live wherever without the landlord having to do all the section 8 paperwork.

That would be amazing, but people will never allow it. The people who get jealous of poor people will never allow that to happen.

Section 8 offices, just like social security offices are hella corrupt.

The fact that the right hates social services for simply existing should tell you that "elected" officials are influencing who gets hired into those offices, and who makes those determination decisions. It's rife with all sorts of discrimination too, but a person will need access to lots of money and have social capital to hold anyone legally accountable.

The social services success stories are far fewer than the social services nightmares.... And this is NOT to say social services are bad! This is to say that politicians see it as their personal mission (and benefit) to starve out, unhouse, and literally poison the wells of anyone who might oppose them (just look at the Flint, MI water situation). Don't let the left off the hook either. Democrats are also notorious for looking the other way (for example, refusing to use 'strong' language in their public speech, such as the words "genocide" and "ceasefire", or "pandemic", "AIDS" and "COVID-19") , because, they benefit from an oppressed -- isolated, terrorized, starving, unhoused, lynched, ill, injured, and poisoned population as well.

"We pride ourselves on the fabric of America's diversity, our grit, our work ethic, and how we rise to the occasion to get things done."

#ParkCenter, shame on you!

Although there is AN AVAILABLE APARTMENT, the #homeless outreach team is denying fair access to affordable housing based on my #disability. After #gaslighting me and blaming countless #microaggression transactions on my #schizophrenia, I was told summarily to give up on getting help, and to try a provider with a waiting list of over a year w/ #section8.

I have been homeless and sick for over a month, and all they have done is purposely ignore me!

Landlord came in today with maintenance. Saw the mold and blamed us for it being there even though there's a leaky gutter on the other side of the closet wall. Our closet was tidy. I keep my mobility scooter in there and we store one of the children's extra medical supplies in there, protected inside black plastic garbage bags. The landlord saw what was in the bags because two of them were open and the medical supplies were inside. He literally called our belongings "trash" and that the mold was there because of all our "garbage" (medical supplies and my mobility scooter)

The maintenance man had to saw a hole in the wall and and look around.

He covered it with plastic and left.

We aren't hearing word back about when they are finishing the repair or what to expect.

We need to file a claim with our renters insurance because we had to throw out all the families shoes and winter boots, 4 coats and $300 worth of medical supplies that we were storing in there, because it was all covered in that mold.

The landlord called our belongings trash, all while tossing our things out of our closet (our belongings that were stored in there are ruined from mold)
We video and audio recorded the entire interaction

Here's what our wall looks like now, and we are expected to clean up the drywall and mold mess they left behind

4th, #Republicans want to cut #GovernmentSpending on #SocialWelfare prgms incl #SocialSecurity, #Medicare/#Medicaid, #SNAP/#FoodStamps, & COVID relief. It's #ClassWarfare blaming poor for #nationaldebt. Yes #SocialServices is a fair % of the budget, but so is the military & they arent cutting that. Besides for every $1 the gov puts into SNAP we get about $1.79 in economic activity. It's true for other #PublicAssistance prgms like #TANF, #Section8 & others.
