I have finally caved in and dove into the rabbit hole of #Linux Container (#LXC) on #Proxmox during my exploration on how to split a GPU across multiple servers and... I totally understand now seeing people's Proxmox setups that are made up exclusively of LXCs rather than VMs lol - it's just so pleasant to setup and use, and superficially at least, very efficient.
I now have a #Jellyfin and #ErsatzTV setup running on LXCs with working iGPU passthrough of my server's #AMD Ryzen 5600G APU. My #Intel #ArcA380 GPU has also arrived, but I'm prolly gonna hold off on adding that until I decide on which node should I add it to and schedule the shutdown, etc. In the future, I might even consider exploring (re)building a #Kubernetes, #RKE2 cluster on LXC nodes instead of VMs - and if that's viable or perhaps better.
Anyway, I've updated my #Homelab Wiki with guides pertaining LXCs, including creating one, passing through a GPU to multiple unprivileged LXCs, and adding an #SMB share for the entire cluster and mounting them, also, on unprivileged LXC containers. https://github.com/irfanhakim-as/homelab-wiki/blob/master/topics/proxmox.md#linux-containers-lxc
@gabu yes.
Just use #Nextcloud or any #SMB share like a normal person...

Ok, #Longhorn might have just saved me here with #k3s and my storage woes. #SMB and #NFS both caused catastrophic problems with corrupted files and databases. Using #unraid as the storage backend for the later 2 but will keep it as a backup destination and network storage for more static datasets.
Thanks to everyone who helped push me in this direction. #homeassistant is officially happy again!
Which remote file access options(s) do you use (or would recommend) over a cellular + VPN connection?
Use case: I am reassessing the best options for my remote access to NAS files over cellular + VPN (#OpenVPN, #Wireguard) with anticipated 10 to 50 Mbps connectivity speed.
Typical use is working on documents, spreadsheets, source code, one-way backup of phone pictures. For my use, automatic synchronization with the NAS is more important than speed because the NAS handles backups.
I am leaning toward setting up #Syncthing again because it would also work well for offline use. For this poll, I am considering #SSHFS, #SMB, and #NFSv4 are using direct access to the NAS with no local storage (yes more latency, but probably acceptable) instead of adding rsync between the PC and NAS over one of those network file systems.
The following options have worked in the past on the various OS that I have needed to use:
