CharlotteComing back to this: I built a little doorbell chime setup, using MQTT from the doorbell to trigger a client running on a raspberry pi to play a chime sound via PulseAudio and an external speaker.Also today the dishwasher repair man very kindly fixed the dishwasher, but tripped the electrical breaker on the ground floor while testing the old/broken drain pump, so I got to watch my chime service watch the MQTT broker go offline, and then kubernetes redeployed it to the servers running upstairs where the power was still on.It's a symphony of nerd 🤓 😂 <a href="https://toot.dusepo.co.uk/tags/homelab" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#homelab</a> <a href="https://toot.dusepo.co.uk/tags/homeautomation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#homeautomation</a>

It has an internal NUT server. It can tell the UnifiOS to shutdown when the battery runs out.BUT, and this where I sincerely think they missed the mark: it does NOT provide on/off control of each individual outlets. Which means, you still need to buy their bulky and expensive smart PDU.Seriously? Pete KeenI tell you what, setting up an open* smtp relay on my Docker hosts has made setting up alerts in various apps a whole lot smoother.
