Finalizing some tests and configuration to tell you all about it in a video coming up soon 😉

prx
J'adore. Merci!

Now I have a "share-folder" on my devices. They sync via #syncthing.
P. S. If it has do be fast, I can manually drop the file in the "share-folder".

You can use Syncthing, FolderSync… even the monster Dropbox… What I use is Filen, but you have to manually download the folder for Android. This is not a big problem for me, though, because I'm mostly a PC user 💻️ I might look for other options in the future, but I'm OK now.
💡 Ah, and not to forget: You could use Logseq's sync if you like it in order to support the project (I personally enjoy it a lot, it helps me very much with learning, and it's not so hard to learn how to use it if what you want is not highly advanced text formatting)

Yes to creating two different files when there's a conflict , but that's what ediff can help you sort out.

As for syncing needing both sides online at the same time... Not to be facetious, but that's how it works. Using a provider's solution, just means their system is online - and storing your data.

I get around this by running #SyncThing on a #RasPi that is on 24/7. It's light enough that you won't notice it and that solves my connectivity issues.

When you want to export a video from an #iPad, transferring to a far more reasonable filesystem over on a #linux laptop, what app do you use to do that? No I don't want to use AirDrop, as I have only one Mac device (and never want another).

The Files app in iPad OS can connect to an SMB server, but only in read-only mode. The SMB server absolutely supports read-write, when other kinds of client connect. This is mildly infuriating, as this "one-way street" behaviour in iPadOS is clearly a walled-garden sort of limitation.

I found a #Warpinator-compatible app for #iPadOS, but it just transfers one file at a time. This is the best I could come up with. Alas, there is also no #syncthing for iPadOS. 🤷

Note: Syncthing would be my preferred way (I use it to sync between Android <-> Linux as my goto network file sync solution).

Edit: a workable solution was eventually found to make SMB/#samba read-write: c.im/@sbb/114340306011617966

C.IMBhante Subharo :xmpp: (@sbb@c.im)@Ann_Effes@berlin.social @in_sympathy@mastodon.social I too needed those hints. The #samba "fruit" module 😂 was very helpful, as i have an #iPad with #iPadOS 18.

Next I run #syncthing on my laptop, and on my #homelab #intelN100 #n100 mini pc / server that runs in the cupboard and is very #lowpower I run #proxmox and this also has a #samba share which allows any other network devices to see the media.

With syncthing running, I always have two copies of the media, but for backup I was using #rclone to send an encrypted copy to #googledrive - which I am in the process of switching over to #nextcloud running on #hetzner

@trinux Yo 😅
