#OnPoli #OntarioElection2025 At 45.40% in 2025, voter turnout is a meagre improvement over the miserable 43.5% of 2022, but should be of concern. #DougFord's cynical call of an election in winter and the huge distractions of #Trump and #Tarrifs certainly contributed to public indifference. At the same time, let's face it, the opposition parties failed to present a compelling alternative. Still, if the issue was to "Protect Ontario", I guess a handsome majority of voters just didn't care.

If you don't know the best way to vote in order to keep cons out in tomorrow's Ontario election:
1. Look at your riding's history
2. If it usually goes lib or ndp, vote that way
3. If it's con, but it has historically leaned lib or ndp, vote what's most recent
4. If it's a toss up... good luck

DON'T TRUST SITES THAT CLAIM RIDING PREDICTIONS.

There is no per-riding polling in Ontario. All of these sites apply province-wide polling to a differential from the last election.

"After seven years in power, the province’s healthcare crisis is worse than when Ford took office. Even controlling for the pandemic and the unexpected chaos and damage it did to the system (threats for which we were not prepared), Ford and the Tories have botched the healthcare file big time — and related files."

A lot of us in #Ontario don't have their Voter Information Cards. And the last day for Advanced Polls is tomorrow.

You can still go and vote early without the card. Just make sure your single piece of ID has both your name and address. Look at the second list on this website for the list of valid ID: ID requirements to vote.

If you also need to know your Advanced Poll locations:

  1. Enter your Postal Code here OR select your riding here.
  2. Then under the Selection Menu press on "Voting Early".

It was exhausting, but I spent over two hours trudging through slippery snow to go vote. It sure would be nice if sidewalks and intersections were passable. Good thing my hip is ok these days or I would've hurt myself for sure. A few years ago, I wouldn't have been able to make it even a block. But my voting is done, and hopefully it stops the conservatives from continuing to plunder everything good left in Ontario. #OnPoli #OntarioElection2025 #pedestrians #accessibility

Advance voting is open in Ontario. You do not need your voter information card to vote!

“Ontarians who do not have a voter information card need to bring one piece of ID with their name and home address, which can include an Ontario driver’s licence, credit card statement, a school admission letter or transcript.”

Reason #47 why ##FordMustGo

Courtesy of @Perspective - Ford's ability to damage every facet of life in Ontario is impressive. He's slowly strangling universities in the province as he directs funding to projects and policies we don't need or continues to build his slush fund for election buying emergencies.

C.IMPerspective (@Perspective@c.im)@paulbusch@mstdn.ca evidence indicates that Ford's Ontario Conservatives are trying to kill Ontario universities. They cap tuition. They cut funding. And when the schools utilize the only tool they have to balance the books - recruit more foreign students - the Feds cut those numbers. Is anybody else NOT OK with that!? Excerpts from the linked article below: "The University of Waterloo is heading into 2025 with a massive operating deficit. Before making significant cuts, it was looking at a $75 million shortfall." “It was the underfunding that led to the dependence on international students, and it was the removal of international students that caused the immediate crisis,” "Ontario has long been ranked last for public funding of post-secondary education in Canada" "Usher said colleges in Ontario are also in trouble. Nearly 200 programs have been cut this year, and he predicts close to 1,000 more could disappear before the end of the month." https://www.ctvnews.ca/kitchener/article/ontario-universities-face-financial-crisis-as-deficits-mount/

Reason #45 why ##FordMustGo

Ford is remarkably consistent - he's failed at every opportunity to solve the #AffordableHousing crisis. Part of the federal housing funds depended on building additional public housing units. Ford was complaining that the feds didn't pay up despite the fact that Ontario missed the targets significantly. Once again, federal funds went directly to municipalities that followed the playbook, upsetting Ford.
