Hi guys, today I found out I basically got an eviction notice for May 31st. This is, while i'm still searching for a job, so I'm not doing so good atm.

Does any one of you know of any jobs and/or affordable housing (looking around the 600-900 euro rent ballpark, and around a 2600 pre-tax euro salary, a month.)? Please let me know. Travel is difficult, I basically only got a bicycle, so in or around the town Veenendaal or Ede is preferred, though if you also know housing next to a job, then that's fine as well.

I also got a Paypal if you want to support me directly, paypal.me/Spennorex

My DMs here should be open in case you got any questions, or send me a reply here.

Advocates are sounding the alarm: Without urgent funding for affordable #housing, essential workers—like nurses and teachers—are being pushed out of the communities they serve. #Homelessness organisations report a rising number of these vital workers seeking help.

Something surprising is happening in S.F. that’s actually … um, good. A 146-unit #affordablehousing project is going up … fast. It aims to be completed 19 months after breaking ground, which is three to six months faster than normal. What is speeding things up? A team approach and some process improvements. Also perhaps just having the goal of more #housing in less time. sfchronicle.com/realestate/art

“If policymakers want to make housing more affordable and available, more federal support is needed for housing assistance and development, not less. ... To better address the ongoing housing affordability crisis, the federal government could invest in these housing needs, rather than undermine them.”

"Turner supported a bill ensuring landlords could refuse apartments to applicants because they received federal housing assistance. He opposed a bill to expand affordable rental housing. He voted against funding public-private partnerships to support the homeless and against two bills that called merely to study homelessness among young people and veterans."

The Housing Loophole That Lets Wealthy Investors Raise Rents on Poor Tenants

As the U.S. struggles with a housing shortage, investors continue to exploit a gap in an affordable housing law to raise rents on 115,000 apartments. Congress has repeatedly failed to act.

Reason #45 why ##FordMustGo

Ford is remarkably consistent - he's failed at every opportunity to solve the #AffordableHousing crisis. Part of the federal housing funds depended on building additional public housing units. Ford was complaining that the feds didn't pay up despite the fact that Ontario missed the targets significantly. Once again, federal funds went directly to municipalities that followed the playbook, upsetting Ford.

In January of 2024, the Ford government promised to provide government incentives to developers that would encourage them to start building Affordable Homes. When asked the definition of "affordable," the government convened an internal committee to figure out what they meant. In June, they rolled out those incentives and developers said "WTF" and continued to not build homes.

Reason #42 why ##FordMustGo

After removing rent controls, Ford's government in 2019 removed experienced adjudicators from the Landlord Tenant Board & moved responsibilities to Tribunals Ontario, a "mega-cluster of tribunals." Delays skyrocketed and both landlords & tenants took advantage of the long wait for complaints to be heard. In some cases requests for higher than allowed rent increases were prioritized.

CBCOntario's Landlord and Tenant Board 'fundamentally failing,' ombudsman finds | CBC NewsA "perfect storm" of factors including the 2018 election, inefficient practices and the COVID pandemic has left Ontario's trouble-plagued Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) "fundamentally failing" to provide swift justice, the province's ombudsman says.

Reason #41 why #FordMustGo

According to a recent Angus Reid survey, #AffordableHousing is the 3rd most important election issue. After being elected in 2018, Ford removed rent controls on all new rental buildings. It was hoped this would jump start new development, which happened but stalled due to COVID, inflation, and high interest rates. When market conditions changed, there were no policy adjustments. Just 30% higher rents.

CBCFord's PCs rolled back rent control to spur new rental construction. Here's what happened next | CBC NewsIn 2018, a freshly-elected Progressive Conservative government exempted all newly built and converted rental units from rent control, saying it would fuel new construction. Five years later, the supply shortage is still dire, but the reasons for that are complex.

Reason #2 that #FordMustGo

Ford has missed every target set for housing while he has been premier. Their target of 1.5M homes by 2031 was considered low as it would not keep pace with population growth, and most industry experts expect them to miss by 50% or more. In 2023, they got innovative and started counting long-term care beds. In 2024, they considered switching to tallying permits versus actual building starts.
