@gzt I'm pretty sure #MuseScore can do it too, that's what I use.

So far I'm liking the new #musescore update. Also just figured out how to use the Parts function to work with smaller groups of instruments (eg. if I’m writing a #sax soli or just want to focus on rhythm section parts). Starting work on a birthday project for my wife to arrange and record some Hall and Oates.
I've got audio working on MuseScore4 + Void Linux! A little summary of what I did (for myself and anyone else on #linux needing #MuseScore 4)
I first switched to #pipewire. For me, this involved uninstalling #pulseaudio and jack, then installing the packages `pipewire alsa-pipewire`. This differs on other distros. I needed to verify that pipewire was starting up properly. Since I didn't have a login manager, I had to set the XDG_RUNTIME_DIR variable manually and also create that directory everytime I booted. Using `tmp` instead of `run` worked better for me.
Then I followed these steps: https://docs.voidlinux.org/config/media/pipewire.html#alsa-integration to get #alsa integration going. Restart, then that's it!
MuseScore now has audio
Counterpart – second voice
Undead service for guitarists. I once notated a piece by J.S.Bach in tabs. Not because it's so beautiful, but because it's a great way to learn and practice counterpoint.
This is the second voice, and we all use it all the time. Harmony follows rules. The nice thing about rules is that you can and should break them. But to do that, you first have to know them.

@mirabilos Yes, I chose the right template (which I made myself, and which worked every time until now). It has a soprano/mezzo part and an alto part, and the alto part had the bass clef; when I changed that to a treble clef, the bass clef stayed in the second and further systems. (On the second try it worked.) Yes, the notes that turned out to be F natural were newly-entered notes. Also, I know how transposing works; I've been using #MuseScore 3 for choir music for years.
I do intend to transpose the piece for men's voices (hoping to make a small dream come true) but #MuseScore shouldn't be second-guessing me about that.
hey #MuseScore, (a) this is a template for women's voices so there's no call for a bass clef in the bottom staff, (b) when I replace that with a treble clef I want it on all lines, not just the first, (c) a key signature of one sharp should make any F into F sharp without prompting. #AmEditingMusic
@ohmu Anyway, re: computer/web tools, I found #Musescore quite helpful. It comes with a learning threshold of its own, but being able to input notes/rhythm and have the computer play it back to you is quite helpful for reinforcing those see/hear connections. Since it has a metronome and can slow down the tempo, its OK to play along with too, and there are lots of free Musescore files floating around online.

Downloaded MuseScore 4.5, so I thought I'd see what the drums and guitars are like (they've had a lot of work recently). I took my mashup of Pizzicato Rockalong and Perpetuum Mobile to see what it sounded like in #musescore.
Turns out I suck at drums, but I am better at bass than I thought I was.
MuseScore Studio 4.5 open-source notation app brings faster dynamics input, a new percussion panel, engraving upgrades, and more.

Besides all my Open Source work (and the very occasional very tiny fanfiction attempt) I publish Free Sheet Music in digital editions, beautifully renderer as PDF, but also available as MusicXML and MIDI for conversion to Braille music notation as needed.
Voices from the choir et al.:
https://mbsd.evolvis.org/music/free contains my Free Sheet Music contributions mostly from Public Domain scans (some more recent ones were made under permission from the composer/arranger); I also produced https://mbsd.evolvis.org/music/misc/ and dozens of pieces I cannot show because they are licenced works.
I do this for myself and share with the world, but I could imagine digitally engraving some sheet music for YOU for a small donation or something. (My speciality is vocal scores, but I can do piano accompaniment mostly, might need help with optimal distribution of notes to hands. Or just type in from a pre-existing score. I do need pitches, no aural transcriptions.)

Here is an orchestrated song (woodwinds, brasswinds, strings and piano) I wrote originally for piano only last christmas, a little "carol". It's called "Little Xmas tale: Martha kills her family".
Here is the score: https://musescore.com/user/79969672/scores/22638343

Watched an interesting Scoring Notes video on #musescore yesterday, where Martin Keary (tantacrul) was interviewed at NAMM 2025 about, amongst other things, what's coming up in MuseScore 4.5+. #orchidea integration looks fun and really interesting, if it ever happens!

Day 6/? (not counting the weekends even though I'm still working a bit on the thesis)
I've continued writing on tablatures, now reaching modern days tools and content like ASCII #tabs, and amazing software like #TuxGuitar, #Musescore, but also the proprietary #GuitarPro because it's still the best currently
hello again wafrn
once again its another musical transcription
