This is my daughter cooking dinner for herself. She has #DownSyndrome and had a stroke. For the past several years, we have been teaching her how to cook. At one point, it became crystal clear that we needed to change the approach and heavily #adapt the recipes. We threw a lot of things at the wall to see what sticks. One win was an electric skillet. The temperature control needed mods so we put colored dots around the outside with different colored nail polish so she can set by color. It seems to work best for her compared to a stove. I helped her (tonight) with a mise-en-place and that makes a huge difference for her. #cooking #food #independence

Not me.
But I'm the one who will bear 100% of the consequences of the institution failing to #adapt or #accommodate for changed circumstances such as the pandemic OR patient #disability.

I have issues with #ADAPT for many reasons, so I won't go into all of them.
I'll pick just one for today.
You may think a meme like this is the opposite of Ableism, but actually it's a hallmark of it.
Too many people within the ADAPT community espouse these views, and is why I never fit into #disability spaces where these are the values shared within them .
