I'm a little sad.

Yesterday, my "weird uncle" passed away - my mom's younger brother Bruce. The dude was cut from a different piece of cloth than the rest of the family. I loved him dearly and he inspired me to be better.

Early in his life he was passionate about horses, and decided to write a book about taking care of them. Later he studied law, got a JD license and specialized in labor law assisting unions. He also taught law at the University of Wisconsin.

I dedicate this special video to Snow White "Snowy" the Meerkat, who passed away on 31st October. As a meerkat enthusiast who spent years dreaming of meeting her in-person before finally being able to last year, the news of her death was heartbreaking. I'm forever grateful for the time I managed to spend with her, and to all the zoo staff and volunteers at ​⁠ for ensuring Snowy's life was as long and happy as possible. May she Rest In Peace 🤍

#OTD Henry Luke Bolley, American #Botanist & #Plant #Pathologist, is born.

Fun Fact: Henry helped start #Purdue #Football & played quarterback. He also started the #Botany dept. & the football program at #NDSU.

Dubbed the "Savior of the #Flax Crop," Henry fought #Plant diseases & created disease-resistant #Plants.

In his 1956 #Eulogy, Harlow Walster said,

"Henry was a fearless trailblazer who cut deep & lasting blazes in the #Forest of #Ignorance about plant diseases."
