I'm really curious about some #telephony inspired/parody stickers I and others have seen in #Philadelphia. Anyone know anything about these?

#FollowerPower: Or does anyone know any #Android #Tablet that supports native #PhoneCalls & #SMS from it like a #Smartphone using it's built-in #WWAN / #4G / #5G modem that isn't some random chinese import brand like "#Crosscall" or something but actually reputable in delivering #security #updates post-launch?
It's for an eldery person who doesn't have the best eyesight anymore and just want to have something better than the overpriced #Doro / #Gigaset devices that are tiny.
Sometime in the next few months, my regular stream co-host will be out of pocket for a few weeks.
I think that that'll be a great time to do some #HomeLab #Streaming instead. Maybe that'll be the motivation to get the full CO-to-subscriber T1 circuit working and we can poke at it while on air?
Still need to snag a H4TU-C card for the CO side, and will probably need to rig something up for power and signal since I won't have the unit that that's meant to slot into.
So @connections is opening a new exhibit in #Denver and looking for volunteers of various types. See the video for more.

Added Asterisk to my list of things I know how to quit:
core stop now
Still don’t know how to quit new hobbies though.
Anyone have experience with IMS and SIM cards?
I have exhausted my internet-research abilities and am asking for help.

Allegedly, one can block data usage on SIM-2 entirely and route all data usage to SIM-1, as well as enable SIM-2 for WiFi-Calling/SMS/RCS only.
tl;dr: keeping US number without incurring intl. rates.

haven’t made use of the flipper much yet aside from some harmless fun and my new flipper tamagotchi pet.
kinda fun that it comes with a red box app tho
I know I can get a cheap ATA that’ll convert an FXS port to SIP over Ethernet, but it seems dumb to do SIP over my home network when I could just plug the phone directly into the computer. I hate unnecessary layers, ya know? More to configure and go wrong.
Can any #telephony geeks tell me why FXS port hardware is so phreakin’ expensive? I just want to plug an old analog phone into a Raspberry Pi.

On #reticulummeshchat #reticulum #reticulummesh #meshchat you can over #radio
1. run multiple #lora #rnodes on one computer.
2. make voice calls over #433mhz ( #ism band at low 12dBm power) between two #rnodes , but of course with delay.
I used #heltec #t114 (version 2 ) and two #lilygo #tbeam for
#VoiceCall #telephony
(un/like #meshtastic )
3. image files can also be transferred
With PipeWire 1.4 almost out of the door, let me introduce you to one of its highlights: Bluetooth telephony support.
This feature consists of a new D-Bus API which allows applications to manage phone calls using the Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile (HFP) protocol.
Check out my short tutorial on how to use the API from the command line and have fun calling!
Hey -- I hope you're well.
Quick question for you. As you might recall, I've some GPO telephones hooked into an internal PBX. This all works fine.
However, I'm wondering if there's a better way of managing this. My primary concern is that in order to get different telephones in each room round the house, I'm going to have to run a s*it tonne of cables through the walls and elsewhere.
Is there a more, err, modern approach to this? I just want to be able to use these GPO telephones for internal room-to-room comms only, if that helps?
TIA for any guidance!
@lispi314 @Avitus @lauren exactly that.
Espechally given that @signalapp discontinued #TextSecure, which was #SMS-based where one could've claimed a "technical necessity" existed.
Wow, Prices for #3CX (non-hosted. self-managed) seem to have skyrocketed - crazy.
What's everyone else using these days? (Self hosted options please)
The #FCC is investigating #SanFrancisco -based #KCBS for its coverage of #immigration enforcement actions in #SanJosé last month, sparking concerns from press freedom advocates and drawing #RightWing #backlash to the #radio station.
#KCBS is considered one of the world’s first rradio stations, and formative to #SiliconValley history. Its original license goes back to #CharlesHerrold in 1909 and his radio- #telephony system. Based in San Jose, it’s historically significant as #Marconi himself.
Attacking this station which survived through two world wars, the Great Depression, and led to the development of Silicon Valley is bound to have immense significance. They’re literally attacking the nation’s oldest broadcaster, which is integral to information and American democracy!

Dear #AskFedi,
I'm trying to call a Belgian phone number from France, using FR, LU, PL SIMs. Each time I am getting a message in German, telling me that the extension is not known.
The number is eight digits without the country code.
The number is supposedly callable from Poland.
WTAF is going on?
