Here's a couple of international #cyberpunk recommendations for your Friday night and weekend dystopia fix (both from Netflix). Both of them ask some very interesting questions from some different angles and they all kind of boil down to how much trust can one really put in technology, and how much is the human influence on same either bad or good?
The first one is Omniscient out of Brazil. It's somewhat reminiscent of The Circle and asks the question of whether 24/7/365 surveillance really reduces crime because people always know that they're being watched. And then what happens when that system fails?
The second one is a Thai anthology called Tomorrow + I that is reminiscent of Black Mirror. Individual "future-forward" episodes that ask some interesting questions about such things as cloning, gender expression, sex, the place of robots in society, and religion.
