A quotation from Marcus Aurelius

Constantly observe everything coming into being through change, and accustom yourself to the thought that universal nature loves nothing so much as to change the things that are and to create new things in their likeness. For everything that exists is, in a sense, the seed of what will arise from it.

Marcus Aurelius (AD 121-180) Roman emperor (161-180), Stoic philosopher
Meditations [To Himself; Τὰ εἰς ἑαυτόν], Book 4, ch. 36 (4.36) (AD 161-180) [tr. Hard (2011 ed.)]

after the failed attempt at planting mango seeds during the darkest part of the year, it is running another attempt at germinating them. due to spring and a relocation to sunnier apartment it has higher hopes for these little packets of life.

they have been in a wet paper towel for 10 days now, and they are starting to grow little roots and sprouts. a strange occurence is that due to the moisture the seeds started to swell up and split into two halves. this is especially visible on the second picture. that seed is completely split, only connected by the root at the bottom.

Garlic cress (Peltaria alliacea) is like a more refined version of its sister species Garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata). It is also reliably perennial and -which is rare for Brassicacea plant - spreads through rhizomes. I think it's a winner. Surprisingly, you almost can't find it on the market. And the few that sell it basically sell the same clone - so it won't set seed. After some years of working on this I finally did it and now have plants that set seed. Very happy about this! #PeltariaAlliacea #Seed #Domestication #PlantExplorer #Perennials #Edimentals

The existing seedlings from a few weeks ago are sprouting and growing strong in the small green house. The broad beans are already quite tall. 😊
We have added some more seeds into pots. This time we have planted corns, Kohlrabi, onions and cucumbers.
Additionally we have added more garlic as they were sprouting in our kitchen. Hope it’s not too late for those ones 🤞

and this evening.. , 🌱 she was standing. Tomorrow, she may start to walk 😆.

They grow up so fast <sigh>

Just over 12 hours, from stuck-in-soil kernel, until standing free. I'm thinking it might be a plum, but could be nectarine?I had some of those seeds in the fridge too.

I may leave a light on for this one overnight. I've been reducing lights, because 'just a hobby' is expensive. And I need another bulb. #Gardening

Maybe you forgot about my Cherry Tree? 🌱
This one is special. Out of 40 seeds, only this one sprouted. Reminds me of my early apple trees. 1st attempt was 10%, now it's over 90% success rate. Once you figure it out it gets easier. I try new seeds or trees every winter.

On a cold and grey winter morn,
Another little baby tree is born 🎶
In my garden 🌱

#GoodMorning everything is white again, a layer of fresh snow. When the snow has melted away.. I need to get some groceries and gas. Until then, gardening.😉

Have you any seeds stratifying?
Mine started too early, leaving me out of table space and light sources.

I don't know what this seed is either, I'm guessing plum tree this time? #Gardening #Seed to #Tree

Have A Happy Hump Day , eh!

@saltphoenix @BroGle demand and prices for #seed up. #Fertilizer prices through the roof. Limit planting to conservation planting, rotate #cattle through on most marginal #land. Grow #soil health this year and Improve herd #health. Cull marginal cattle with health and genetic issues early this year before #avianflu and economic s**t hits big mid year. Cattle prices high now.
#USDA numbers say corn acres are going up? Data going dark, too.
