Today In Labor History March 27, 1912: Start of the 8-month Northern railway strike in Canada by the IWW. Over 8,000 construction workers walked off the job at Northern Railway workcamps Wobblies picketed employment offices in Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Tacoma and Minneapolis in order to block the hiring of scabs.

Fellow workers pay attention to what I'm going to mention,
For it is the fixed intention of the Workers of the World.
And I hope you'll all be ready, true-hearted, brave and steady,
To gather 'round our standard when the red flag is unfurled.

CHORUS:
Where the Fraser River flows, each fellow worker knows,

A walking trail on a couple of miles of abandoned railroad bed.

The map shows all the railroads that used to exist in the county. All were built in the 1880s; all are now abandoned.

An old-fashioned red caboose is parked on a short sample of railroad tracks. A paved walking trail curves away into the distance. Bare trees beside the path.

The image shows a daytime view of Godalming railway station in Surrey, England. The station building is constructed from light brown stone and features a steeply pitched, grey slate roof with multiple chimneys. The architectural style appears to be Victorian or Edwardian.
The platform is visible in the foreground, with two sets of railway tracks running parallel to it. The platform surface is a light grey, marked with a yellow tactile paving edge for safety. Overhead, a cream-coloured canopy supported by ornate metal pillars and brackets provides shelter.
Several doorways and windows are visible along the platform-facing side of the station building. Signage indicating "Godalming" is present above one of the entrances. A few people can be seen waiting on the platform.
