I really enjoyed my visits to #DH colleagues: I met with a group at #NTU's "Research Center for Digital Humanities" #RCDH founded in 2007! With representatives of the "Taiwanese Association for Digital Humanities" #TADH. And with a team from #AcademiaSinica's "Center for Digital Cultures" #ASCDC, also founded in 2007. We had great conversations on DH in Taiwan, Optical Character Recognition, Linked Open Data, Large Language Models, #ADHO and the global DH community, our centers, and more! @tcdh

After the conference & day trip, it was time for meetings. We did plenty! I took part in delegation meetings with #AcademiaSinica and #NTU (National Taiwan Univ.), but there were many more. We learned about exchange opportunities, memoranda were signed, and we presented each others' research priorities and focus areas, and found lots of overlap! #Biodiversity #WorldLiterature #Sinology #DigitalHumanities #ArtifcialIntelligence #NaturalLanguageProcessing, to name just a few. #tcdh #UTrier

This spring is full of travels: This time, we're in #Taipei, #Taiwan, for a joint conference organised by #NCCU (National Chengchi University) and #UniTrier, with two days of a packed programme, followed by a day trip and meetings with several #universities, among them #NTU (National Taiwan University) and Academia Sinica, in the following days.

(Very happy to be here, of course, for all the good academic reasons, but also because of the local food...)

Dr Chen Wen-chen Memorial Square (陳文成事件紀念廣場) at National Taiwan University

Dr Chen Wen-chen was an associate professor at Carnegie Mellon University. In 1981 he returned to Taiwan. He was found dead on the campus of NTU one day after being detained for questioning by the Taiwan Garrison Command. He is believed to have been murdered for his activities supporting human rights and democracy in Taiwan while living in the USA
