iperf3 zeigt 2,9Gb/s 😱

Entweder liegt es an einer #mikrotik config, oder weil die 10Gb Karte an CPU0 hängt. Ich hatte das schon mit Mellanox .. dass die I/O grottig ist, wenn die Karte auf CPU0 hängt, statt CPU1. Morgen mal kucken ...

Hey #networking #mikrotik specialists!

I'm thinking of checking out exposing my local services to the Web using github.com/fatedier/frp

Let's say I want to expose a HTTP server running on a Pi. I would put that Pi on a different VLAN for security. Can I setup my local communication in a way that I could SSH into that Pi from my laptop in another VLAN, but that Pi would not be able to connect in any way to other machines in my local network?

What is the industry standard way to handle this?

As I plan out the new MiniLab, here is the @mikrotik@mikrotik.social wishlist:

* A CRS310-8G+2S+IN variant with PoE, to support newer access points and SBCs that have PoE and 2.5gb NICs
* A Half-rack sized switch with 8ish 10gb ports and a mix of RJ45/SFP+

Bonus round

* 0.5u half rack switches that can stack alongside RB5009U routers, something like 8g PoE with either 2.5 or 10gb uplink, or other variations

I believe the development of rose-storage is handled by a separate team. If MikroTik can afford that — let them go for it. Selling a 'server where the user can install anything they want' versus a 'device running a specialized system' are two completely different business models.
Why don’t we also ask them to officially support installing OpenWRT on their hardware? (Some devices already allow that anyway.)
Let them just manufacture the hardware, and we’ll set up whatever software we want on it.
(Dear MikroTik, please don’t take that as a business idea, for the love of God :)

After a lot of back and forth; I decided to buy a #MikroTik CRS309-1G-8S+IN and dedicate it to the SAN. I thought a lot about 25 and 100 Gbit, but ultimately decided I'm not ready for the investment. Each server will have 2x #10Gbit, which will just have to do for now 🙂

Weekend's over and I managed to replace my dead #Mikrotik router for a #TurrisOmnia.

Great job, #Turris and #OpenWRT, this was the best experience I had with setting up a router to date! I managed to set up everything, including NAT quite easily and I even understand what I did.

So, my blog and other services should be up again. Do, please, let me know if anything does not work.
