This little banger from 1995 just popped in my head and I had to pick up a guitar and play it a bit. I was 15 in 1995, and that year and the year after, my first band used to warm up with this one. I've been continuing to listen to one Matthew Sweet album each day in release order. Listening to In Reverse today has been such a wonderful experience. The Wall of Sound production makes these songs sound so rich, with highlights like "What Matters" and the closing "Thunderstorm". The cover painting by Margaret Keane is a perfect fit.

Earlier this week I decided to start listening to Matthew Sweet's albums one a day in order of release. Inside and Earth were fun pop albums but listening to Girlfriend tonight is exhilarating. The string of great albums he produced following that is extraordinary.

Girlfriend introduced me to Tuesday Weld (on the cover) and Urusei Yatsura (in a music video), and I'll be forever thankful.

Back in 2017 I received this cat piece that is a 3D print of a ceramic sculpture made by Matthew Sweet and then hand painted by him. He included it as a reward alongside his album Tomorrow Forever.
