Even though I'm no longer encrypting emails[1], good to see an alternative to Thunderbird for using PGP encryption locally (sort of, encryption then takes place in a browser).

Je viens de découvrir cette initiative allemande, qui remonte pourtant déjà à 2012: #mailvelope https://superbloom.design/. Je vais voir si ça marche plus facilement que les clés de Thunderbird ou le système d'OpenKeyChain, parce que je rame toujours avec ces clés! En tous cas, un pas de plus pour faciliter le respect de la #rgpd et d'autres règlementations de protection des données.

I don't have a lot of experience coding software but I could visualize a solution.

Thanks to @akshay and @weepingclown for their continuous support which made this possible.

Hopefully this will motivate more people to setup #wkd for their domains and make end to end encrypted email as easy as WhatsApp or Signal.

Background: mailvelope keyserver is the only openpgp keyserver software I found that supports key removals and GDPR-compliant/abuse resistant (the commonly used keys.openpgp.org software hagrid is not supported for outside deployments).

All older key server software don't do email verification and cannot remove keys.

Wozu soll ich E-Mails verschlüsseln, ich nutze doch TLS?

TLS schützt E-Mails lediglich während ihrer Übermittlung zwischen Servern oder Clients. Erlangen Unbefugte Zugriff auf ein E-Mail Postfach oder ein E-Mail Archiv, so gewährleistet eine Ende-zu-Ende Verschlüsselung dagegen weiterhin Vertraulichkeit; auch E-Mail-Provider können dann nicht auf den Inhalt von E-Mails zugreifen.
Unter anderem deshalb hat das #BSI die Projekte #GPG4Win und #Mailvelope unterstützt.
