I'm curious to hear what others are #SelfHosting! Here's my current setup:

Hardware & OS

Infrastructure & Networking

Security & Monitoring

Authentication & Identity Management

  • Authelia (Docker): Just set this up for two-factor authentication and single sign-on. Seems to be working well so far!
  • LLDAP (Docker): Lightweight LDAP server for managing authentication. Also seems to be working pretty well!
    #AuthenticationTools #IdentityManagement

Productivity & Personal Tools

Notifications & Development Workflow

  • Notifications via: #Ntfy (Docker) and Zoho's ZeptoMail (#Zoho)
  • Development Environment: Mostly using VSCode connected to my server via Remote-SSH extension. #VSCodeRemote

Accessibility Focus ♿🖥️

Accessibility heavily influences my choices—I use a screen reader full-time (#ScreenReader), so I prioritize services usable without sight (#InclusiveDesign#DigitalAccessibility). Always open to discussing accessibility experiences or recommendations!

I've also experimented with:

  • Ollama (#Ollama): Not enough RAM on my Pi.
  • Habit trackers like Beaver Habit Tracker (#HabitTracking): Accessibility issues made it unusable for me.

I don't really have a media collection, so no Plex or Jellyfin here (#MediaServer)—but I'm always open to suggestions! I've gotten a bit addicted to exploring new self-hosted services! 😄

What's your setup like? Any cool services you'd recommend I try?

@zstg @afreytes my current problem with the #Filen test is that the #Android client doesn't seem to photo upload in the background. As soon as I open the app, it does a (so far) great job of the uploads but I have to load it every time, and there doesn't seem to be any background functionality.

I apparently bought a lifetime zero quota mobile only license for #iDrive a few years ago, it's not ideal for my needs but I will leave it on for on-the-fly phone backups at no cost or worry.

(Boost for awareness of this shitty situation.)

IDrive's got some explaining to do.

I moved from Amazon S3 to IDrive e2, about a month ago.

Yesterday I found that my buckets became inaccessible, either through their GUI or through the web.

This means:

- No Mastodon cache.
- No offsite WordPress backups. (They still happen on site.)

I've reported the problem yesterday using a GUI feature, but truth be told, this did not seem to create a ticket. I've emailed them this morning, and got a reply that a ticket was created.

This is complete and utter shit. I was over one year with Amazon S3, and *never* had any problem.

One month with IDrive e2, and I run into this shit.

@syntaxseed Oh geez, what a mess!

I've mostly stuck to #SpiderOak because I like that zero knowledge encryption is the default. I didn't think that #iDrive offers that level of encryption, but maybe that's what they mean by private key encryption? idrive.com/online-backup-secur

www.idrive.comIDrive® ensures strong security and privacyData is encrypted with 256-bit AES encryption on transfer and storage, with a private key option for improved security.

@jackaponte 100%. In fact I found it to be so unresponsive even when it does launch that I was miles away from feeling like I can trust it to even backup my data. Not to mention that the web dashboard barely works and is very hidden on the #SpiderOak website. I also had problems getting it to take my payment. All signs of a product the company doesn't want to support anymore.

I switched to #iDrive after evaluating several options.

I should make some time to move mastodon to R2 cloud storage too. It's way more reliable than idrive and actually cheaper.

Can anyone recommend a dead simple way to move files from one S3 style bucket to another? last time for lemmy I used rclone and it worked really well.
