Kind of a logical combination for them.

Farcaster is another decentralized social-media (DeSo) network, alongside the Fediverse, Bluesky, Nostr, and others.

Farcaster seems to have Starter-Follow-Packs now.

I am trying to list out all the conferences for Decentralized Social-Media (DeSo).

Including the Fediverse, of course. But also including Bluesky, Farcaster, Lens, Matrix, and Nostr. All if it.

And including conferences where the decentralized social-media part is only part of the conference.

Some people want to replace the name #Fediverse with #OpenSocial.

It is true that #ActivityPub was "touched" by the OpenSocial bureaucratic structure at the W3C, but —

If you would have said "OpenSocial" back in 2007 to 2010, then —

To many (probably most) people back then — 'OpenSocial' was these embeddable mini-applications, that were heavily inspired by what Facebook was like of that era.

Interestingly, the popular #FarcasterFrames (on #Farcaster ) are similar to OpenSocial gadgets.

There has been debate over that to call all decentralized social-media.

I.e., the Fediverse, Bluesky, Matrix, nostr, Lens, Farcaster, etc.

(I think many feel that "decentralized social-media" is too long.)

I have seen some try to broaden the definition of "Fediverse" to include all of them.

BUT —

A while ago, I saw someone shorten "decentralized social-media" to "DeSo".

I think I like it.
