I am testing out some tech I want to learn more about :-)
I have used #Terraform to create some VMs in my #Proxmox server, then with #kubespray installed a kubernetes cluster on them.
Next I'll install #rook / #ceph so I have some storage, and last but not least I will install #CloudNativePG @CloudNativePG@mastodon.social on it.
If that all works, I'll repeat that in another datacenter to test cloudnativepg replica clusters.

@benmeier_ It already starts during the setup. I'm using #cloudnativepg for postgres and it automatically creates application secrets/certs for every postgres cluster. Getting those secrets into a concatenated db string used in db_url is such a pain -.-

So, after the switch to #CloudNativePG, the #PostgreSQL part of https://mstdn.dk has been purring like a feline. One minor thing though - since the switch in late May, we've been piling up nearly 220 GiB of archived transaction logs (WAL files), which is now nearly double the amount of storage used by Mastodon media files. I haven't given this a lot of time until now, but it is clearly something to be dealt with ASAP. I've introduced a 30 day retention as well as compression, so hopefully the amount of storage needed will balance out over the next month - hopefully WAY below 220 GiB.
Sorry about the downtime on #mstdndk. I tried to migrate the underlying database from one managed by the #Zalando operator to #CloudNativePG, but for some odd reason passwords didn't work and I couldn't log with the database imported from a backup I just took. I've rolled back for now and will probably set up a test environment to make sure this works behind the scenes before I bother you again! ;-)
