A secret military base has been discovered in North Korea near the border with China, reportedly storing #ballisticmissiles.

The base is located 27 kilometers from the Chinese border in a mountain valley. It is believed to house up to nine intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads, as well as their launchers, according to The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg, citing a report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (#CSIS) in Washington.

A few fragments from latest analysis from Center for Strategic and International Studies #CSIS

Russian fatalities and casualties have been extraordinary. Russia will likely hit the 1 million casualty mark in the summer of 2025—a stunning and grizzly milestone. Overall, a high of 250,000 Russian soldiers have died in Ukraine, with over 950,000 total Russian casualties.

Russian fatalities in Ukraine (in just over three years) are 15 times larger than the Soviet Union’s decade-long war in Afghanistan and 10 times larger than Russia’s 13 years of war in Chechnya.

Russian forces have advanced an average of only 50 meters per day in such areas as Kharkiv, slower than during the Somme offensive in World War I, where French and British forces advanced an average of 80 meters per day.

The study, published on Tuesday by the Center for Strategic & International Studies #CSIS in Washington, said that close to 400,000 Ukrainian troops have also been killed or wounded since the war began.

Seth Jones, president of the defense & security department of the Center for Strategic & International Studies (#CSIS), describes the #US role so far in the negotiations as "relatively #weak" & cautions that if the admin were to walk away from the talks "it would fundamentally shift the balance of power in the #war to the Russian side."

He adds that European nations could not easily or quickly replace the #intelligence that the US has provided.

Reports about the US "spying" on Greenland, possibly agitating amongst the small Greenland independence movement, a report not denied by the US govt, is a warming to #Canada and #Alberta. #CSIS must watch for any US attempts to work with the #DanielleSmith govt and the #AB separation movement. If it's happening, the public needs to know so we can react with greater US boycotts.

🇨🇦 PM Carney's comments on Mr #Poilievre's refusal to obtain top-level security clearance.

“I find it beyond baffling, I find it downright irresponsible that the leader of the opposition, day after day, month after month, year after year, refuses to obtain his security clearance.
As a normal course in peacetime, in times of tranquil, it’s unacceptable, but at this point in our history when we face the greatest threats that we’ve faced in generations, he has to answer for that.”

I'm pretty sure that's a fake poll released by Ford's people after a bad news week (Auditor General's Report on Ontario Place.) A recent national poll had Ford's popularity as Premier at 31%. What I object to is unquestioning Ontario and #Cdnmedia leaping at this fake bait like trout. I believe #CSIS should investigate where Canadian Conservative campaign offices source these wacko polls.
