Earth Day Accomplishment
Here is our new Plum Tree. ("Early Italian Plum" variety)
I had actually forgot yesterday that it was Earth Day today. So while I was a little disappointed I didn't get this done yesterday, it turned into a nice memorable Earth Day addition.
Love planting trees. It's like planting hope every time. :)
It is mounded for now because that will be the height of the yard once I move more of PondPool Mountain around.

Another step in the #backyard evolution. Old plum tree cut down on neighbour’s side. New plum (behind the ladder in 2nd pic) awaiting planting on our side.
My new #backyard #weatherstation is now installed and reporting to wunderground.com . I bought this because #Trump is ending the National Weather Service under his #Project2025 and I would like to know the local #weather. The station reports all data online so it'll help other people in #NewJersey too.
Oh guess what we got this weekend! Woohoo! All the intensive efforts hand-watering, sun screen cloth and jasmine fertilizer have paid off. First blooms this year. There are so many clusters of tiny buds I think we will have even more blooms today. The scent is heavenly. And from the photo you can see I did go ahead and get the blue herons! #Backyard #Jasmine #Vines #Flowers
One of two beautiful Red Bud Trees this Old Fart added to his garden last summer. #redbud #redbudtrees #floweringtrees #blooming #bloomingtrees #spring #flowers #gardening #pennsylvaniagarden #pennsylvaniagardens #gardener #garden #yard #frontyard #backyard
bonus content for @arbutus ! Arbutus is thriving! Trimmed some dead wood and lower branches. #OperationMoveDirtMountain #poolpond #diy #portalberni #backyard #spring
Highlight of the day: listening to and watching an eagle-couple chatter and soar above the house!

The day is done. Made a reasonable dent in the mountain. Raised the level of about half of the driveway. Tomorrow I will measure the fabric for the car tracks and put down another 2 loads of dirt to bring it to the edge of the tracks.
Then we'll need to wait until a weekday when I am home to go get sand, gravel, and top soil.
Maybe Ill go to the stone shop next week and grab the flagstones for the path.
Lots to do!
Then we will move to the backyard again and start on plumbing for the poolpond!
Excited for the additions! Bought an Italian plum to replace the old and dying Italian plum on our neighbour’s side. And bought another Northern Spy to plant in the front in place of an aged hydrangea.
This will complete the complement of 3 apple trees in the front yard! Yay! (2 northern spy semi dwarf, 1 blushing delight columnar visible in the previous post beside the little dump truck) and start the fruit tree complement in the back to go with the well established hazelnut tree. I want at least 2 more fruit trees in the back. Possibly four.
