Tips for dealing with different timezones?

Every time I plan on an event in a different timezone I'm confused how to put it in my calendar.

@douginamug I’m using the same “email stack”. I just make events in my local time. Invites I send to others get translated to their local time on their end. Most calendars are time zone aware so things just work. They wouldn’t be doing very good jobs as calendars if they didn’t understand time zones. Are you sure you aren’t imagining a problem where there isn’t one?

@Fingel my case was: someone suggested a meeting at 9am Eastern time and I wanted to put it into Thunderbird. How would you deal with an analagous case?

I don't know the timezones off by heart, and don't want to learn them!

@Fingel curious to know if you still think I was imaging the problem 🙃

@douginamug Hey I'm in the United States with a purely continental team so if someone wanted me to create a meeting at 9am EST I'd either i) tell them to make it themselves or ii) just create it for 6 AM local time (there are only 4 time zones to remember and they are sequential). I suppose that ii would be more obnoxious for international teams and in that case, yes Thunderbird should probably help out somehow!
