When I first started freelancing, I really thought employers would think that hiring basically a full time developer with his own LLC (so that they don't have to pay for taxes, healthcare, or equipment) would be a very attractive proposition. But no. Apparently companies really do not care for that arrangement.
Me: "Hey, I can do full time work exactly as if I was employee (like I've already done for 15 years) except I'll take on all the burden of taxes, healthcare, and equipment, and send you detailed invoices with exact breakdowns of time spent on your project. Here's a contract, everything's negotiable. What do you think?"
Every single response: "Sorry, we don't do that."
@arcatech Can't say companies pushing "thinking outside the box" telling you they're only comfortable doing things the neatly standardized way they've always been done surprises me at all, sadly.
