I accidentally left mobile data roaming on, as I landed in Malaysia en route to Australia.
Apparently, my phone managed to max out my roaming data spend before I noticed and switched it off.
My telco helpfully disabled my account before I spent all the money in the universe on data. Now, I just need to figure out how to re-enable it...
Contacting support is tricky when you are 10.5 hours in the future.
@HerraBRE I am going to guess you're with Hringdu?
Because that kind of reasonable "huh that person would probably be very sad once he gets the bill if we don't disable roaming on his account" approach to things sounds very Hringdu.
@rysiek Yep. Hringdu ftw!
@rysiek I am supposed to be able to just send an SMS to reenable it, but for some reason my SIM isn't connecting to a network at all now.
Which isn't great, I do want people to be able to call me if something is urgent.
Maybe oz uses different frequency bands and my phone just doesn't have the right antenna or something, or the right config. I'll figure it out. Probably!
@HerraBRE ah yes, the bands might be a thing.
