Sieva 🚴🚇🏙️🌹<p>I was under the impression that <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/@Vivaldi" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>Vivaldi</span></a></span> is going to support Manifest V2 plugins after Chrome drops support, but this message is alarming. What's going on?</p><p><a href="https://social.coop/tags/Vivaldi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Vivaldi</span></a> <a href="https://social.coop/tags/UBlockOrigin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UBlockOrigin</span></a> <a href="https://social.coop/tags/ManifestV2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ManifestV2</span></a></p>
Gareth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧<p>I've just noticed my <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/@Vivaldi" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>Vivaldi</span></a></span> browser saying that uBlock Origin and ScriptSafe are going to stop working in the near future, which is disappointing as I thought they were going to keep support for them.</p><p>So my question is... what <a href="https://tenforward.social/tags/browser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>browser</span></a> can I use now? OR, what plugins do I need to replace the soon-to-be-dead ones?</p><p>I've got Safari for a backup, but that's got pretty terrible <a href="https://tenforward.social/tags/plugin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>plugin</span></a> support so I've never really used it as a primary browser.</p><p><a href="https://tenforward.social/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Firefox</span></a> seems to be enshittifying as fast as they can, <a href="https://tenforward.social/tags/Chrome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chrome</span></a> and <a href="https://tenforward.social/tags/Edge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Edge</span></a> are both crap from a privacy point of view. #Google warns #uBlock Origin and other extensions may be disabled soon
#Chrome Web Store is now warning that the #uBlockOrigin #adblocker and other extensions may soon be blocked as part of the company's deprecation of the #ManifestV2 extension specification.

Come to Mozilla Firefox and leave the ad [company] behind

on chromeOS, do you miss having a full screen launcher for your internet bookmarks?

There is an extension which does this, but I'm nervous that it's going to go away because the developer has not updated it to manifest v3...if someone can please reach out to him...here's my current review:

Fellow users - Guys, what do we do to save this extension? Does anyone know? I can't seem to reach the developer...can someone please reach out to the developer to update their extension to manifest v3?

hi, your excellent chrome extension Favorites - New Tab Page is still on manifest v2 which google has seemed to add to a sort of chopping block.

can you please update it to manifest v3 to save it? thank you

if it helps, you could add a tip jar/donation or payment function. if not that, then can you open source it and release it to github? thank you.

if the developer doesn't do this, can developers who code make a clone of this app? feel free to reward yourself with tip jar/donations/payment functions. if not that, then can you open source it and release it to github? thank you.

the best. Its your existing bookmarks, but instead of a tiny sliver, you get a nice full screen grid layout with icons imported automatically, also allows drag and drop. you can also right click settings > themes > choose any dark background for a night mode / dark theme, easier on the eyes.

#Firefox unterstützt weiter #ManifestV2 und ist die Empfehlung des uBlock Origin Entwicklers gorhill. #Librewolf hat das Add-on vorinstalliert.

@trentskunk Welp, not surprised.

Vivaldi experiencing, as they put it, "a performance drag" from considering a proper implementation is the probable result of trying to pluck so much stuff in the browser, so they choose a status quo of OBEDIENTLY following Google's version of the Manifest V3 spec. How come they don't take a page from Firefox that keeps both Manifest V2 and V3 that doesn't impede extensions' capabilities as much as Chromium?
