Home #cider making is humming along nicely. I've got 4 one-gallon jars that I brew in. The ingredients for a 1-gallon batch costs around $6, mostly for the apple juice as the sugar is very cheap and the yeast is just the dregs of the last batch after bottling. I've got about 2.6 gallons of cider on hand, now, and more fermenting.
Store bought hard cider is around $0.18 an ounce. My cider comes in around $0.06 an ounce for raw ingredients. Bottles will make great, cheap gifts.

It's been a minute since we reviewed a #CraftwellCocktails by #2townscider. This go around, we are checking out Transfusion.
With notes from the cidery, Transfusion is "...crafted with PNW Concord Grapes, Mexican Key Limes, and an invigorating kick of ginger."
And our thoughts? Well, for one, don't be like us and go sans-ice
Out of the can, Transfusion, as expected, pours with little or no carbonation. Under the light, Transfusion appears with a red-violet almost magenta color.
Swirling and sniffing, we recover notes of grape juice (which is why were suddenly craving Welch's), and some lime.
Sipping, we pick up much of the ginger, those concord grapes as if you were eating them fresh off the vine, and key lime juice.
Overall, Transfusion has a strong mouthfeel, a definite alcoholic warmth, and a dry finish punctuated by ginger.

I'm starting to reap the benefits of fermenting my own cider. Here is most of the first gallon batch racked into bottles. I used store bought apple juice, added sugar to raise the specific gravity to 1.088, pitched regular bread yeast, and fermented at room temperature for a few weeks, bringing the s.g. down to 1.000. That's around 12% alcohol. So this is like an apple wine, or very strong hard cider. It tastes amazing and is naturally effervescent.

I'm getting more equipment for cider making. Yesterday, I racked a couple of my first experiments into 1 gallon glass jugs. I sanitized everything, took specific gravity readings, and had a taste (tastes amazing so far). Shout-out to all the YouTube videos that show how easy it is to make your own hard cider. I'll probably be bottling these in a week or two, and starting new batches in the meantime.

I hope everyone remembered to set their clocks ahead and is now enjoying that "extra" hour of daylight today! Even if not, this Spring Forward #cider from #2TownsCiderhouse is the beverage of the moment. It includes strawberry and cherry juices to sweeten it with luscious, bright flavor and aroma evoking sweet cherries and berries. Cheers!
