No one of course was suggesting outing people against their will. That is a entirely different subject from promoting minority voices.

I am as you say of a certain age and have lived through enforcement silence. And do so again. Those and other experiences show in my writing without ever being explicitly political or about being trans.

In this day and age it is unlikely any traditional publisher would touch me. There are points in my stories that would make many privileged people uncomfortable. The fear losing one's job, the hypocritical judgemental neighbors, the frequency of suicide, ostracizism by family, the struggle finding housing, the casual violence and scorn. These and others issues appear as side bars in my stories because they are a daily part of our lives. You are never safe no matter how much you cocoon yourself in a mainstream identity.

Those who wish to remain hidden should be respected. Those who take the other road should be celebrate.

Spotted this empty wheelchair at Saturday's Trans Rights Rally at Independence Mall. Whether intentional or not, it's a pretty powerful statement.

If you believe in the First Amendment right to Freedom of Expression, you will stand up and fight for the right of our trans and nonbinary siblings to express themselves freely without fear of persecution or worse - death.

If you call yourself an ally to the trans community, it is important for you to stand up and fight for the right of our most vulnerable siblings to exist.

The time is now!
