On this day one year ago, the European Space Agency (ESA) gave the go-ahead for @LISA, their flagship gravitational-wave observatory in space. LISA should go into orbit in the mid 2030s.
At that time, the mission passed a major review with flying colours: the entire concept – from the definition of the overall mission and operations to the space hardware to be built – stood up to the intense scrutiny of ESA’s reviewers.
The @mpi_grav has @LISA research groups at its Hannover and Potsdam sites. It is the institution with the largest number of members in the LISA Consortium. The institute plays a leading role in the development of key hardware components, in source modeling, data analysis, and science exploitation.
