Science is under attack in the US and I want to stand up for it! Today 3/7 big rallies are being held in the US to protest against the obscurantist policies by d. trump. Why is that?
1) Many scientists have either had their grants terminated or can’t access approved funding while national science agencies comply with Trump’s recent executive orders. 2) trump’s order rolling back protections for transgender people.

4) trump also ordered to cut funds to universities for research on topics such as Alzheimer, cancer, diabetes. The National Institute for Health stopped reviewing thousands of new grant applications. On my way to the Stand Up for Science rally in Washington DC. It's heartening to see so many people standing up for science, not just at the official events in the United States, but also at gatherings being held in other countries.
Why am I going to the rally? Because I value weather forecasts, vaccines, volcano monitoring, and many other gifts that science gives us. I also value the scientists working to bring us those gifts. I want scientists employed by the federal government to be allowed to publish timely information on important subjects like the spread of avian influenza. Finally, I don't want scientists fired without due process.
Today we say #ScienceNotSilence in response to recent attacks on scientists and scientific institutions and we #StandUpForScience.
