Likewise I am not up on every detail of changes made since the striking of #RoeVsWade, but IIRC several #American states have made the #prescribing or #dispensing of #medications known to be used for medical abortion illegal, even if the specific purpose for a specific patient is for another reason unconnected to abortion.

(Reminder: yes, many Rx can and are used for many different conditions, not just the thing they're most famous for)

I listened to a very informative YouTube video today (and looked up some stuff). Oh boy...! A LOT to unpack. We all have some decisions to make soon. Life or death stuff (unless the courts or congress does the right thing). After what I've heard and read today, I am convinced that #Trump is a #Putin asset, as is #TulsiGabbard and #ErikPrince. And their goal is to suppress the #Resistance. And it seems that #BillClinton, #BarackObama and #JoeBiden did NOTHING to prevent what Trump is attempting to do, even though they could have... (And don't get me started as to why they didn't codify #RoeVsWade or #EqualRights or a number of other things when they had the chance...) Anyhow, I'll try to remember to use #USPol, but I might forget. But yeah... Wow... Where to even begin... (Maybe I'll start with the YouTube video)

This is what I remember (and I'm old enough to remember). Abortion was mostly a Catholic issue, and the Evangelicals could give a crap. But then they realized that #RacialSegregation wasn't possible, so they decided to try and control womens' bodies instead!

The #ReligiousRight and the Abortion Myth

White evangelicals in the 1970s didn’t initially care about abortion. They organized to defend #racial #segregation in evangelical institutions — and only seized on banning abortion because it was more palatable than their real goal

240) #KamalaHarris suggests scrapping the #filibuster to restore #RoeVsWade rights across the country.

The filibuster should be scrapped in its entirety. Due to the #Senate's arcane rules, passing legislation in America is too hard. It is little wonder that most Americans have lost faith in a democracy that can barely legislate.

Today in Labor History September 22, 1947: Norma McCorvey, American activist was born. She was the plaintiff in Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court ruling which legalized abortions in the U.S. She grew up in a poor, working-class family. At the age of ten, she robbed a gas station with a girlfriend and ran away to Oklahoma City, where they were arrested after a maid walked in on them and caught them kissing each other. She was declared a ward of the state and sent to a Catholic boarding school, and then State School for Girls in Gainesville, Texas from age 11 to 15. After that, she lived with her mother’s cousin, who repeated raped her. At 16, she married Woody McCorvey (age 23), but left him after he assaulted her, and not long after gave birth to her first child. After this, she developed a drug and alcohol problem. Her mother kidnapped her baby and reported Norma to the police for “abandoning” her baby. Later, she tricked Norma into signing adoption papers, giving her custody of the child. Later in her life, she became an Evangelical Christian, and then a Roman Catholic, and participated in the anti-abortion movement. However, before she died, she admitted that she had been paid to speak out against abortion. She had also accepted money to renounce her lesbian identity. This video clip is from the satirical film, Citizen Ruth, with Laura Dern portraying a McCorvey-like character.
