I've been thinking about #Software, specifically #Affinity apps #AffinityPhoto and #AffinityPublisher, and how they differ from #Photoshop and #InDesign most specifically.

The place it's most obvious is the treatment of Layers - Photoshop’s layering is a very direct recreation of the sort of cell stacks anyone who has done traditional animation would understand. Even things like Effects Layers and Masks, they're very of the physical. (1/3)

#Photoshop's adaptive fill used to be super useful for tasks like this: I want to reframe an image, and I need to move this A-board. So I select it and move it, leaving a hole in the BG.
In the past, you'd use adaptive fill to plug the hole. It would usually get you 85% of the way there, filling it with texture from surrounding pixels, and you could clean up with clone stamp.
But now we have AI, which makes everything so much better* so when I tell it to fill the A-board shaped hole with "Concrete paving" it helpfully* does this. Thanks, AI, that's, uh, not it.
Guess I'll try #GNUImp's generative tools, I haven't really used them much.

Pour essayer de me débarrasser de mon abonnement à #Photoshop, j'ai testé #Pixelmator Pro. J'avoue que le logiciel est pas mal, mais j'ai surtout regardé les fonctionnalités que j'utilise le plus, à savoir la correction des anomalies (pour enlever les poussières), le recadrage non rectangulaire (donc des côtés de différentes tailles et pas parallèles), et l'export web avec des tailles choisies :
- le dépoussierage marche super bien
- le recadrage non rectangulaire n'est pas proposé
- l'export web propose le webp, mais on ne peut pas personnaliser la taille d'export
Bref, pas convaincu.
J'aime pas Gimp, une autre piste ?
