This year marks the centenary of the birth of #RobertRauschenberg, a key figure in understanding the developments of twentieth-century art up to the present day.
I want to celebrate it by posting a work of mine from 2022 entitled "Bob's lost (in) space", a big poster in which I reworked the famous silkscreen painting "Retroactive I" from 1963.

These images are inserted into a series of chaotic patterns that replicate computer glitches. Some details from my work entitled "Inkubatio" (2023). See the previous toot for the full image.

The work takes inspiration from "incubation", a magical-religious practice that consists of sleeping in a sacred area in order to experience revelations about the future in dreams or to receive cures or blessings of various kinds.

The first poster I hung on the street when we reopened after the first lockdown, almost five years ago now. What a crazy time!
Anyway, the poster is called "Saturo" (which means "saturated"), all made with markers and spray paint on paper.
In the next toot I'll post some more details.

More than fifteen years ago, I read Jacques Monod's essay "Chance and Necessity" and it was an enlightenment. I realized that, just as in biology, also in the history of art and in the artistic process, we progress through phenomena of adaptation of the idea to chance, to error, to the imperfection of matter. I then invented this "alphabet" of chaotic machines (an oxymoron) that created the order of a recognizable figure.

The first #posterart intervention I ever did was called "Shitty cool idea" (2018), in the Monti district, a few steps from the Roman Forum.
The poster was a reworking of a famous photo by the Italian conceptual artist #GiuseppePenone which was titled "Rovesciare gli occhi al contrario" (Turning the eyes upside down, 1970)

:blobfoxpeekcomfy: Hello everyone. I'm Ortro, an artist and street artist based in Rome.
I mainly work with markers and spray cans. With my works I create chaotic machines that aggregate to form images taken from different fields (works of art, advertising, comics, computer glitches), trying to create an alienating effect.
