Neferure<p>The Sea of Azov faces significant environmental crisis: </p><p>Local reports indicate that oil from 2 shipwrecked Russian tankers has polluted Krylovka beach, 60km South of Melitopol. A Melitopol resident recently shared footage from Kyrylivka beach, depicting a dark, tar-like substance, which potentially has been released from two Russian tankers following an incident in the Kerch Strait. </p><p>Similar footage has been posted from Anapa beach, Krasnodar, in the Russian Federation.</p><p>The tankers, the Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239, reportedly suffered catastrophic hull breaches in bad weather.</p><p>Greenpeace has warned of a major environmental catastrophe due to the resulting oil spill, saying that each vessel could have contained up to 5,000 tons of oil products.
