Today, I'm reading the brand new graphic novel adaptation of THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS. It's very good. Gorgeous hardback cover and great artwork, just like THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER. I wish the lettering were not so small, cuz old.
I'm grateful that the Octavia Butler estate agreed to this.
Just started reading LUMINOUS, by Silvia Park. It is a literary fiction Sci Fi novel, set in a near future Unified Korea, where biotech has blurred the line between robot and human.
I find the premise intriguing, particularly the exploration of identity and agency. Just a couple chapters in so far.

I'm trying to get back into reading. To that end, scored some promising reads from the New Arrivals shelf:
Inspired by the book "Dear Alderone" by Ami Hendrickson, this album is a series of piano improvisations for each of the "Characters"

"Maybe it's the nature of intelligent life to destroy itself"
"Well, I prefer to think that intelligent life could choose not to."
From The Expanse, S2, E9, (James S. Corey) on the Arboghast, orbiting Venus.
Sadly, in the real world the planet's politicians are not making that choice.
The book I was enjoying has turned into one of those where the protagonist has to clear her name after the antagonists have published lies about her. I find that plot device tiresome.
I'm reading the book as a judge for a competition and I'm trying very hard not to let this personal preference influence my views on the book. The writing is pretty good and the world building is excellent. I just don't like this type of plot.
I am on page 21 of Parable of the Sower (Octavia Butler), and I am stunned.
It's like she's right here talking about today's political personalities mismanaging todays problems.
#IAmReading the 1868 novel, "The Moonstone" by Wilkie Collins. It's an interesting book in many ways. One of the reasons I'm reading it is because it's one of the first examples of a #mystery novel. I've always been interested in that genre and wanted to educate myself about its origins. It's in the public domain and I loaded it onto my iPad as an e-book. It might make a good #bookbinding project.
My book haul so far this week. Mark picked up five holds for me (left) at the library Monday, my BOMC choices arrived (bottom right) the same day, and my thrift book order (top right) showed up Tuesday. ON IT. #books #bookstodon #iamreading #Today #BOMC
