GreatApe is a conversations platform for the Fediverse and decentralized social-media (DeSo).
After you log into GreatApe (using your Mastodon, Pixelfed, Misskey, PeerTube, etc account) — you either schedule live conversation for some time in the future, or have the live conversation happen immediately.
(Most will probably schedule it for the future.)
GreatApe is a conversations platform for the Fediverse and decentralized social-media (DeSo).
When logging into GreatApe, you don't have to create an account on GreatApe.
Instead you can use your Mastodon, Pixelfed, Misskey, or PeerTube account.
That is what @muhammadzaidali is working on right now.

This (in the screenshot) is an example of @atomicpoet and I ( @reiver ) using an earlier version of GreatApe back in October 2023.
You don't see it in this screenshot, but —we can also invite people watching in the audience to join the (video) conversation.

GreatApe would also post again to your Mastodon, Pixelfed, Misskey, PeerTube, or whatever account, maybe 10 minutes before your scheduled GreatApe conversation starts.

Then you would schedule your GreatApe conversation.
Which could be "now", or some time in the future.
GreatApe would then post to your Mastodon, Pixelfed, Misskey, PeerTube, or whatever account — telling your followers about the upcoming GreatApe conversation.
This post would include the URL to watch, listen to, and join the upcoming GreatApe conversation.

You would first sign into GreatApe using your Mastodon, Pixelfed, Misskey, PeerTube, etc account.
(I.e., no need to create a separate GreatApe account.)

GreatApe update:
I am working on pushing out an MVP for GreatApe.
The GreatApe MVP will act as an add-on to other Fediverse (and DeSo other) software.

Back in October 2023, @atomicpoet and I started a video podcast / vlog using #GreatApe — named AllYourBases.
It was focused on — the Fediverse, decentralized social-media, Tech, and more.
We reported the news, and provided commentary.
We paused it after a while. (Mostly because of me.)
Looking at starting it up again.
I set up a web-site for GreatApe.
A URL I can use when I talk about GreatApe.
Until now, it was just the GitHub repos. Now, GreatApe has its own web-site.
For now, it is very basic. More needs to be added to it.
There has been talk about podcasts at the Fediverse House.
And, some talk about live podcasts.
(The latter is part of the #GreatApe niche.)
("Podcast" being either audio or video.)
One of the people on the #GreatApe team — @muhammadzaidali — had his first child the other day!
He is now a father!!
Congratulations Zaid!!!
The Web front-end feature for GreatApe that @muhammadzaidali has been working lately — the ability to record calls / rooms —
Currently this is a local recording.
You start recording. And it records a video file on your own computer.
(Later we intend to make it so a user could record on the server, too.)
An update for GreatApe — a conversations platform for the Fediverse, social-web, and DeSo.
I have been working on cleaning up the code for the part of GreatApe called "Logjam". LogJam is part of the GreatApe back-end.
. @muhammadzaidali has been working on the Web front-end code for GreateApe. He has been working on the ability to record calls / rooms.
. @benyamin0 has been working on another part of the GreatApe back-end called "GoldGorilla".
LogJam had some front-end code in it.
That has now been moved to another git repo. (The GreatApe front-end has its own repo.)
The only front-end code left in LogJam is a very minimal home-page (and a favicon and an og:image for the home-page).
The GreatApe code is divided into multiple git repos.
Part of the GreatApe back-end is called "LogJam". LogJam is the part of GreatApe for the P2P (tree organized) audio and video rooms.
(GreatApe is an audio & video conversations platform for the social-web and decentralized social-media (DeSo). Which, of course, includes the Fediverse.)
Myself and @muhammadzaidali have been cleaning up the LogJam code.
Bachelor apes at the Toronto zoo. The one on the right was scaring the one on the left. I couldn’t get over how fast they move. Extremely intimidating. Raw power and speed, and look at dat ass. I wish I had glutes even half as strong.
I feel sorry that they have to live in a zoo instead of the jungle where they belong. So much intelligence in those eyes. #gorilla #GreatApe #primate
