Chase Bank Smashes Its Own Windows

Multiple locations of Chase Bank ceased operations due to lockout in a coordinated attack as a result of war profiteering in #Gaza. Chase staff were forced to break their own windows in order to gain entry to the building.

This week, multiple locations of Chase Bank in Oakland had their operations temporarily halted in a coordinated effort to push for full divestment from Israel's genocidal occupation in Palestine. Bank employees and customers found door locks and ATMs disabled, and statements permanently fused to glass doors and windows. These actions were undertaken in order to expose and indict Chase for its financial participation in genocide through its remaining investments in military contractors, including Elbit Systems and Israel's economy.

The statements were adhered to glass doors and windows using a quick drying epoxy, resulting in a bond that cannot be removed. This caused Chase to have to remove and replace their own windows and doors. The method is similar to wheat-pasting: Glass is coated with epoxy, the message is applied, and then another layer of epoxy is added. Additionally, a thick layer of epoxy was applied over the buttons of the ATM, disabling the machine. Using this method is more discreet than breaking windows and results in the same amount of repair needs and financial damage to Chase. We value human lives over the capitalist's private property and see these damages as a justified response to Chase's complicity in genocide.

Yes, that's right: Chase had cashed this check against my account. And someone had sent me the evidence. Why? Dunno.

Within a week I had pulled everything out of Chase and moved to a local bank, where we still are.

Exc. we got a new mortgage with First Republic...which is now Chase.

Guess who fucked me over this month by withdrawing the mortgage TWICE?

Forget "too big to fail," they're clearly "too stupid to fail.”

Why I hate #ChaseBank:

In 2008 my bank, Washington Mutual, got bought by Chase Bank. One day in the mail I received an envelope from Chase, addressed to me, that contained one single check:

- from someone I didn't know
- to someone I didn't know
- from a Chinese bank (not even Chase)
- for about $8000

Nothing else was sent with this check. No explanation. No nothing.

”Weird," said I.

And then all the checks I'd written that month started bouncing. /1

So my point stands then. This wasn't a case of #ye bringing bad press to #ChaseBank at all, bringing risk to the company. This was a case of #ChaseBank not wanting to work with #ye because of his racist statements.

Not that I particularly blame the Jews that cut ties with him, to be clear. If I was the CEO of a company that a white supremacist was using, part of me would certainly want to cut ties with that person too (I'm a black dude BTW). But let's not pretend that this isn't illegal discrimination along ideological lines, just because nobody likes racism.

Contacted the bank who replied.along the lines of "WTF?? It wasn't from us! Pleeease tell us you didn't click any links!"

Duly fwded the original to the phishing-report email.

This fooled me, and I thought my phish-antenna is good (comes naturally to a Roach).
