We need to slow down asap.
We need to slow down asap.
Hello Fediverse!
We are a (very slow) movement of idle idealists, who want to save humanity from overperformance.
Please always write our name in correct camel case.
Pressure to perform is the enemy of happiness and the good life for everybody.
Sloth is a virtue.
In this society however, being lazy is also a privilege.
We demand a universal right to be lazy.
Nobody's laziness should create more work for others though. Including machines and "AI".
The aim is to consume less and live more.
On the anniversary of my Lo-Fi microcontroller performance of John Cage's 4'33", I have a new work - a microcontroller interpretation of his ORGAN2/ASLSP "as slow as possible".
I've used a @Raspberry_Pi Pico running as slow as possible to perform a short extract of ORGAN2/ASLSP.
In this proof-of-concept, admittedly, the Pico isn't running all that slow, but it's a start and will do for today.
So here is PICO2/AFPOC

In all seriousness, how cool would it be to invite musicians and bands - Sludge/Doom, folk, Darkwave and Dungeon Synth, classical, jazz, metal, choral, funk, post-rock, whatever - to drop into the church and improvise over whatever sustained chord is currently playing!? The Halberstadt Sessions series of releases would be amazing, and contribute to the project.
ORGAN2/ASLSP has changed note for the first time in two years. They've added D4 which will now sound until Aug 2028.
Don't worry if you missed it though, there'll be another chord change in Aug 2026...
A 639-year-long piece of music being played in a cathedral in Germany has just changed a chord for the first time in 2 years - after letting that previous single chord drone out day and night - as crowds gather in anticipation.
