KC-DOZ<p>A personal best on Harlem Globetrotters on Tour, by Bally 1978.</p><p>It's a solid state game, but I'm currently obsessed with this and another Bally game, Paragon. Unlike that one, you can actually master HGOT because the plusX values all feed a single, easy and mostly safe shot through the left side spinner.</p><p>It only took me three games to rack up 8 credits. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/arcade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arcade</span></a></p>
Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>Finishing up Jackbot's cleaning and routine overhaul, one of the last things is replacing dead lamps in hard to reach places. Quite a few flash lamps had dies this time. All replaced and Jackbot can now assault the players' eyes with its extra bright lighting!</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinrepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinrepair</span></a></p>
Don Marti<p>fan theory: Jane Austen had <a href="https://federate.social/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> in mind when plotting "Pride and Prejudice". The book looks perfectly designed to be adapted into rules for a pinball machine, where you have to make certain shots for stages of courtship to pair off the sisters, avoid Lydia ending up [spoiler redacted], country dance multiball mode...</p><p>(hope this Kickstarter is successful with their literary-themed pinball, maybe they will do Pride and Prejudice next <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wonderlandamusements/wonderland-pinball" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">kickstarter.com/projects/wonde</span><span class="invisible">rlandamusements/wonderland-pinball</span></a> )</p>

Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>I recently posted a video of Stern's painted light bulbs and mentioned the bulb condoms Williams used. Naturally I was asked to show the condoms!</p><p>So here's the difference. Williams put these silicone filters over theirs to change the color. While I'm pretty hardcore Williams fan, I somehow always liked how the painted incandescent bulbs look like.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/retrotech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrotech</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/arcade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arcade</span></a></p>
Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>Every time Jackbot is being serviced, I check the condition of one of the first bigger 3D printed pinball parts I made back in the days. This guide rail for the moving target bank is not available as a separate part, so you have to buy the whole thing if it breaks. </p><p>I got so annoyed I modelled a sturdier version of it. This is one of the prototypes, that has been in use for over 3 years now, without any cracks or other problems.</p><p>I later released the model, so anyone needing can print out their own:<br><a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6964621" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">thingiverse.com/thing:6964621</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinrepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinrepair</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/3dprinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinting</span></a></p>

Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>Fun discovery in Fish Tales. Normally the flipper buttons cause some quotes or sounds to be played in the attraction mode. But apparently the flipper end of stroke-switch qualifies too, so moving the flippers by hand makes sounds. Odd.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/didyouknow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>didyouknow</span></a></p>

Austin Dern, Dean of Coatis<p>So, <a href="https://blimps.xyz/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> tournament last night and I started out the fourteen rounds of qualifying with four straight losses, finally getting a win on, if you can call it pinball, Baby Pac-Man.</p><p>Despite that appalling start I did end up with six wins and, had I ever been able to get a second flip on the ball on Labyrinth and Jaws, might have made it into the playoffs anyway.</p><p>(My dear bride *did* make it handily into the playoffs, and finished in fifth place, her best finish in one of these and a great boost to both her state women's ranking and her mood.)</p>

Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>Got Judge Dredd and the Zone done today. I'm really itching to get back to my Road Show project and finally put the thing back together.</p><p>Anyway, here's the shiny Zone.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/arcade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arcade</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/twilightzone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>twilightzone</span></a></p>
Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>Early Stern White Star games (2000...) had often these colorful miniatyre bulbs. In a lot of Williams games they used normal clear ones with a silicone hood (which we promptly named bulb condoms) to change the color. Stern instead used painted lamps. I have a good collection of all the colors to keep these early 2000s games looking original. I also kinda like how the painted bulbs look.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/arcade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arcade</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinrepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinrepair</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/retrotech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrotech</span></a></p>
Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>A little detail that even many owners of Judge Dredd pin don't know. There's an area under the Deadworld planet, that's purely ornamental, giving the area bit more 3D look than just flat plastics. But since it's under the playfield, a ball can actually land there under very rare airball conditions.</p><p>This is why the area has kind of a bowl, that will catch the ball and lead it towards under the playfield pathway normally used by the Subway entrace behind the drop targets. So a ball that wandered there will be returned to the game from the Subway's upkicker.</p><p>I wonder how often this has happened and if this was actually a feature that was axed during the game's development.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/didyouknow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>didyouknow</span></a></p>
Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>The lamp test, seen under the playfield.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinrepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinrepair</span></a></p>
Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>Let's play "spot the dead lamps" game. </p><p>It's Judge Dredd's turn to get washed and waxed. Running the lamp test is normal part of the cleanup service on these incandencent light bulb using machines.</p><p>I can spot some dead feature lamps and at least one dead flasher.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinrepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinrepair</span></a></p>
Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>Here we go, the first production version of the Who Dunnit's 3D printed reel. In the end, 7 different prototypes were made, zeroing in on the shape and then the transparent material. Naturally also learned about designing stuff with FreeCAD while doing it. </p><p>Seen in this video is the 2 part model, where the hub and wheel part are printed separately so no support is needed. Before this I also quickly tried on the one piece version but didn't put decal on it.</p><p>In the end I reused the old decal as it came off in good shape and it seems to stay on the reel just fine.</p><p>All in all, this was a fun project that taught me a lot. Next I'll probably go back to tackling the modified Road Show project when I have the extra time.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/3dprinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinting</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/freecad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>freecad</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/repair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>repair</span></a></p>
