Carolannie<p>Ecologists contend with the fact that many ecosystems we love and want to restore and rewild are in fact human-created ecosystems. I really enjoyed both his book Trilobite! and his memoir and have his recent book on fungi lined up. He will be sorely missed.</p><p><a href="https://www.thebookseller.com/obituaries/author-presenter-and-palaeontologist-richard-fortey-dies-aged-79" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">thebookseller.com/obituaries/a</span><span class="invisible">uthor-presenter-and-palaeontologist-richard-fortey-dies-aged-79</span></a></p><p><a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/Paleontology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Paleontology</span></a> <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/Palaeontology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Palaeontology</span></a> <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/Fossils" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fossils</span></a> <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/Trilobites" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Trilobites</span></a> <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/NaturalHistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NaturalHistory</span></a> <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/Mycology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mycology</span></a></p>
rsp<p>I ran across this fantastic scientific illustration on Wikimedia: dissection of the European garden spider Araneus diadematus (=Epeira diadema), circa 1902.</p><p>The artist, Paul Pfurtscheller (1855-1927), taught biology classes until his retirement in 1911. His artwork was done in the form of wall charts to support his teaching lessons. <br><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Pfurtscheller" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Pfu</span><span class="invisible">rtscheller</span></a></p><p><a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/NaturalHistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NaturalHistory</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/Nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nature</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/Spiders" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Spiders</span></a></p>
