Eugenia L<p>Elementary OS 8 is out, and it's a solid upgrade with wayland and flatpaks installed by default. The distro is very well thought out, beautiful UI.</p><p>My only reservations are that the CPU usage is pretty high even when nothing is running, and the elementary-specific apps use lots of RAM. I'd love to see it more optimized, less cpu usage, and ~1 GB of RAM on a clean boot. I can quickly get up and going, and just run a shell script to setup my dev env. Recently been using <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/elementaryos8" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>elementaryos8</span></a> so that the younger ones in my family can play around with Linux safely. I've used <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/RedHat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RedHat</span></a> and <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/centos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>centos</span></a> professionally. I tried <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fedora</span></a> but it was a pain to find and install drivers.</p>
