t s r o n o<p>5:00:00 of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/drone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>drone</span></a> tracks made for <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> 2022, up now at <a href="https://tsrono.bandcamp.com/album/decoi-ei" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">tsrono.bandcamp.com/album/deco</span><span class="invisible">i-ei</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p>This last <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> is a trio of Cello, Organ and sine waves. It has a well tempered fifth as its only interval, if we don't count octaves. The dynamics take care of most of the sense of progression. The music is very reduced. This is about half an hour's worth of music, but like most of the stuff I do, I think it would benefit from running it for as long as you feel like. Let me know if you'd like my help getting <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/SuperCollider" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SuperCollider</span></a> sat up. I do that a lot, so it's fine.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/thirtyone" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/thirtyone</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p>Okay, so... </p><p>I'm about to sit down and do my last little .scd file for <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> . I did <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/noisevember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>noisevember</span></a> right before, so that switch was wild. I used to do a lot more noisier stuff back in the day. It was great sort of having an excuse to do that kind of aesthetic but It got hard to stay within that at about 2/3rds of that month. It was a real sense of relief getting to do Drone after that. Now it's almost time to wrap things up for this month and I've loved it. I learned a lot from it. </p><p>1/2</p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p><a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> thirty uses a little bit of a piano recording and the rest is really dirty synthesis. Surprised how tonal this came out, at least to my ears. If you take a gander at the code you'll see I'm using a chromatic scale as well as other strangeness. It's the Feldman thing again I think. Just has to be slow enough.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/thirty" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/thirty</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p><a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> twentynine has a single sine wave recorded to cassette tape as its only source material. I did a bunch of transpositions tho. They're all in fractions style because of a conversation I had with a friend the other day. I was thinking today about how fractions style might make for some other choices. And yeah no, I don't think I would have settled on these pitches had I done this with degrees, and the scales and tunings that are in their respective .directory</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/twentynine" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/twentynine</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p>Today's <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> is now up. This one has some samples I recorded using a Cello laid on it's back on the living room table. It's a harmonic with the finger slightly of center on the lowest string. This places a lot more focus on the bow sounds rather than the pitch material of that harmonic.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/twentyeight" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/twentyeight</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p>This latest <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> is kind of worn out in a nice way. It's sunfaded and warped. It's mostly made up of synthesis but it also has some vinyl clicks going through resonant filters. Those clicks are periodic sometimes. I think that's what got me started on this trip with the post processing. This one for sure qualifies as an example of music of long duration.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/twentyseven" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/twentyseven</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p><a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> twentysix is a trio of Karplus-Strong string synthesis, Ixa synthesis and noise through resonant lowpass filter.<br>I'm getting further along with the same idea from last couple of days. I feel comfortable now making special cases for certain parameters. Most prominent example in this one is that the noise through resonant lowpass filter is heard a couple of octaves below the other two synths.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/twentysix" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/twentysix</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p><a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> twentyfive is all gongs all the time. It sounds like a big resonant space that breaths and shifts center. I have not altered the pitch of the gong recordings. I've had this idea of an expanding array that repeats for a while now and this is its first outing. Code and samples in the repo if you'd like to take a closer look.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/twentyfive" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/twentyfive</span></a></p>
Mattias Petersson<p><a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> 24 ended up using a violinsample. <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/SuperCollider" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SuperCollider</span></a> and <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/Bitwig" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Bitwig</span></a> was also used.</p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p><a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/Dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Dronecember</span></a> twentyfour is real delicate. It has lots of dynamics. All synthesis. Uses a nice scale called Hirajōshi. The choice of scale material gave connections to other parameters which follow suit and use arrays of five values.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/twentyfour" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/twentyfour</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p>In this latest <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> I can finally say I did that thing I've been chasing after for a while now using Pseed as a shared data stream. I now think that all of the lines need to not only have the same amount of stochastic choices in them, they also need to have the same pattern objects making those stochastic choices in all of those lines. This one has a nice metal bowl as the sample and then six synth stems on top of that, with \ixa being the most prominent.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/twentythree" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/twentythree</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p>This <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> has a couple of snippets recorded today on the Serge at EMS. Lot's of waveshaping and tanh and lowpass filters have then been applied. Was fun to have focus on different intervals at different times with this neat little trick that is kind of faking an array for \spd. Also nice to not be using the whole range for the multiplications of the fundamental. I should do that more.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/twentytwo" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/twentytwo</span></a></p>
Mattias Petersson<p><a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> 21 returns to basics with some additive and fm synthesis in <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/supercollider" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>supercollider</span></a>.</p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p>This new <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> that I made today has a recording I did of some low fundamental feedback between an electric guitar pickup and a speaker with a tin lid laid on top of it. Real simple. Single source material. I'm back to the amount of text in the code that it could fit on a postcard. I like simple. Feels nice.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/twentyone" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/twentyone</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p><a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> twenty is out of control as you can see. It has fifteen different instruments, or sample folders rather. I got pretty close to a working solution for using Pseed as a shared data stream. It seems to break at scale, or after a while rather. I might be missing something, I dunno. There is some music you can listen to anyway.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/twenty" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/twenty</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p>Today's <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> is all piano and whistling. </p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/nineteen" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/nineteen</span></a></p>
Daniel M Karlsson<p>Did another <a href="https://social.ordinal.garden/tags/dronecember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dronecember</span></a> and this one's got my recordings of the octave violin and the MakeNoise 0coast that I borrowed from a neighbor. Code and samples are in the repo.</p><p><a href="https://danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/track/eighteen" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">danielmkarlsson.bandcamp.com/t</span><span class="invisible">rack/eighteen</span></a></p>
