PentaxkeThe Black Tower. Built in the early 13th century, this tower is the only remaining part of the original first wall around Brussels. By the 15th century, it became private property (due to the building of the second fortification, it had long lost its purpose) and is one of the reasons it survived for so long. In 1937, it became the first protected building in the city.
