Pierre<p>Pour le <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/TolkienReadingDay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TolkienReadingDay</span></a>, j'aimerais attirer votre attention sur un conte trop peu connu de Tolkien (comme tout ce qui n'est pas situé en Terre du Milieu) : "Feuille, de Niggle". Niggle (dont le nom signifie "Scrupuleux") est un peintre, mais ne peut peindre qu'en amateur, à côté de ses multiples devoirs. Il sait qu'un jour il devra partir pour un long voyage, mais procrastine le moment de s'y préparer. theHigherGeometer<p>I was trying to think of something that would be suitable, given the theme this year of "Fellowship and Community". Staring over at the shelves, I think not an original, but Tolkien's translation of Beowulf, with the scene in Heorot before Grendel comes later that night:</p><p>"There was laughter of mighty men, the din of singing; sweet were the words. Wealhtheow went forth, Hrothgar's queen, mindful of courtesy; with gold adorned she greeted the men in the hall, and then the cup she offered, noble lady, first to the guardian of the East Danes' realm, and wished him joy at the ale-quaffing and his lieges' love. He, king victorious, in delight partook of feast and flowing bowl. Then the lady of the Helmings went to and fro to every part of that host, to tried men and young proffering the jewelled vessels, until in due time it chanced that she, ring-laden queen of courteous heart, to Beowulf bore the cup of mead, and hailed the Geatish knight, and gave thanks to God in words of wisdom that her desire was granted to her that she might trust in any man for comfort in their miseries. That cup he then received, grim warrior at Wealhtheow's hand, and thereupon, his heart kindled with desire of battle, fair words he said. Nelly - Univers Fantasy<p>Comme prévu je lis "Du conte de fées" pour ce <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/TolkienReadingDay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TolkienReadingDay</span></a> . Il y a plein de passage intéressant sur sa vision du conte de fée (sachant qu'il estime le mot fée et elfe comme synonyme un bonne partie de ses réflexions s'appliquent bien à la fantasy en général). Mais pour l'instant celle qui m'a amusé est de le voir parler des "versions édulcorées de Grimm" du coup je me souviens que Tolkien n'aimait pas les versions Disney de ces contes. Tu m'étonnes !?!</p>
